Happy 2014! Let's start with some new media; I've never tried using just brushes and paint before, but looking at some of Yoshitaka Amano's work made me itch to try it out with my new black gouache IT'S THE BEST. Essentially, gouache is the effect of watercolours with the opaqueness of acrylic and I think I'm in love with this Don't get me wrong, I love my Copics and I've vowed to do better with digital media, but damn there's something cathartic about getting some brushes and slapping up a drawing in like 10 minutes without the angst of trying to make it look perfect... it just does.

Anyway, clearly you can see me messing around with brushstrokes that made for great long dark hair, but not so good for short hair, and I can't seem to work out how to render light hair so I had to skip out on all my blonde babies (Armin, Christa, Annie, Petra etc.) but once I work out how to do that I'll definitely add the others. Damn, I'm torn whether to make Mikasa or Hanji my icon or something... awww
