Description
Kali Maa most common four armed Iconographyin which two of her hands (usually the left) are holding a sword and a severed head.
- - Well The Sword signifies ‘Divine Knowledge’
- - and the Human Head signifies ‘Human Ego’ which must be slain by Divine Knowledge in order to attain ‘Moksha.’
The other two hands (usually the right) are in
- - The Abhaya (fearlessness) and
- - The Varada (blessing) mudras, which means her initiated devotees (or anyone worshiping her with a true heart) will be saved as she will guide them here and in the hereafter.
but please note that :-
- The Concept of Moksh and its association with the divine knowledge is associated with "leaving" the Moh and Maya (feelings and emotions and love for earthly things )
- while the concept of fearlessness and blessings is associated with the concept of "living" with the Moh and Maya and not leaving it . you require fearlessness and blessings to achieve some thing , which exactly means that you are connected with the Moh & Maya
Similarly as Lord Shiva himself said in Yogani tantra that her Left Foot exist of the heart of a corpse and her right foot exist above all creation .. so it gives just a simple explanation of concept of Perfect Creation and absolute nothingness in perfect balance like the rest of her iconography .
NOTE :- the concept is described in great detail on the blog . and the art is not my work , it is shared for research and informational purposes.
