Bunta is a shy person, and likes mostly to be left alone. He seems content not having many, or any, friends, and prefers quiet activities such as reading or drawing. He's quick to follow any orders given to him whether the person truly holds a position of authority or not as he dislikes any and all confrontation, and would rather quietly follow along than argue. He seldom speaks, and tends to stutter when he does, especially if speaking to someone of high authority (such as teachers) or those who he perceives to be unfriendly. He's quick to shy away from conversations and may be hard to befriend, especially since he doesn't like to stay close to others for an extended period of time.

Due to his penchant for reading, Bunta is quite good at studying and note taking.

Bunta's childhood was fairly simple- He grew up with parents who were Alice users, or at least, one of them was. Although his parents met in the academy, his father's Alice shape was 'childhood', causing him to lose his Alice when he grew into an adult. His parents were constantly on the lookout to see whether or not their son manifested an Alice, knowing that if he did, they would have to assist him in controlling and understanding whatever it was. Because of this, he grew up with vague knowledge of Alices, and perhaps even looked forward to gaining 'superpowers'.

His Alice would manifest itself periodically throughout his childhood, especially when he was stressed in attending school, but they were always just mistakenly passed off as a mild case of the sniffles, or flu, spreading in the school- After all, it's not uncommon for flus to be spread around a group of children. Bunta's parents wondered if it was no coincidence, and since it he was around the age that an Alice may present itself and he always seemed sick before any others reported being sick. This was also noticed by his classmates, who started avoiding him whenever he looked sickly. Because of this, he grew used to being alone, and turned to other means of entertainment such as reading and drawing.

His parents sought after anyone who could determine whether or not Bunta had an Alice. Although it was hard, they eventually discovered his strange Alice. Their first action was to warn him to stay further away from others to prevent him from infecting his classmates or strangers with his Alice, at least until he learns how to control it properly. They also understood that they had no way of helping him control his Alice, and decided to enroll him into the Alice Academy, in which they first met.
