not bad overall, though her head doesn't feel like it's part of the rest of her body. the lighting change feels too drastic and the neck feels really flat. it's almost as though the body and head were done separately and not connected until the very end. also, you're getting better at some of the lighting on the clothing, though they still sorta feel flat... particularly her pants and cuffs on her pants.

I like it overall but I still ain't a big fan of the skin colours. xD
I looked at that Ares progress image and now I understand why the colours look weird on the skin. The last drawing I did was supposed to be black and white but my sister came up with the idea of the background and I couldn't keep it like that so I added a layer over the image and set it to Overlay I think. Needless to say I absolutely hated how the colours ended up because once you use Layer Blending the colours change.
Basically what I'm saying is to try to paint directly with colours instead of shades of gray. Or if you want to keep doing it like this try to find better colours. o.O
I hope you won't get mad at me for saying it but I really think that once you fix the skin colours your drawings will be awesome. xD
As for the contest, I looked into it but I saw no blood allowed so that made me not want to participate.

Of course I won't get mad at you, I know too well that I'm far from awesomeness
It's just that I've seen lots of tutorials from great professional artists and they all recommend to draw "black and white" and then add the colors at the end .... I guess I still have to practice that technique until i get better at it.

Can you show me one of those tutorials? I remember only ever seeing one a very long time ago.
I tried the black&white version but never liked it, the skin never looks good enough when I try that. When I did that drawing of Itachi I was planning to make it a black&white image, but I ended up with a coloured background and in the end I had to add colour to the face too, which I hated doing, it didn't end up looking that great.

Ahhh... yes, it works on those kings of drawings, but what I have problems with is the skin. No matter how much I try it just doesn't look right if I start black&white. =/
What bugs me about your drawing is the skin, the colour, too orange, try a more pink-ish colour and see how that works. Also, less saturated too. ^^
