this is amazing, of course! however, i don't really understand how there's so much in focus. i thought scanners had a poor depth of field capacity. i've never actually tried this, though, so i might very well be misunderstanding the whole thing. anyway, excellent piece!

Thank you. no, I think you get it right. It strongly depends on the scanner. some have a quiet amazing DOF, others don't.

AWSOME job!

Wow, this is just one of those shots that hits viscerally and doesn't let you have time to process the words. Or maybe I'm not so good with words... it's possible.
Several words come to mind that others have used - clever, stunning, I'd add very creepy and definitely surreal. Great job.

haha thank you! I checked out the work of bacon and you're right - there's a link between his art and my scanned-again-series.

~yuppy64 Here, your deviation was featured a little while back in the *Deviant-Underground journal, it's been selected for the top five weekly journal, and if voted most popular in the weekly poll, will be put into the DU gallery with comments disabled and a link back here.
Best of luck.

I'm supposed to be waiting for my Mum to get home with Indian food, but she's taking too long...
Holey shit you've done this well, I did a little playing around with scanning a little while back, but I never got anything anywhere near this good, damn well done!

thats just amazing !
i've never thought of doing this at all...
i have heard of someone turning a scanner into a camera though...its a pretty ugly set up, but with moving subjects it just looks amazing !

Hey Deviant...
You're awesome, and it's been recognized, I'm *electricnats , and I'm part of a project over at *Deviant-Underground to promote underappreciated artists, and share their art with our watchers, each day three pieces are featured in the group journal. From there deviants are asked to participate by posting the featured thumbs in their own journals to promote both the artists and the project. Then on each Saturday the 5 favorite deviations from that week are posted again in a weekly journal entry and those deviations are put into a poll. By the next week, the deviation with the most votes is submitted to the clubs gallery with comments disabled and a link to the original. So eventually, when the project gets bigger, then that should have a huge effect on the featured deviations comments and favorites.
Anyway, today your piece was featured here
Enjoy the little bit of attention.

looks like you have a seriously deformed face and someone decided they wanted to capture it in a photo...you're glaring at the photographer as if to say "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU LOOKING AT?"

made me smile.

yup, my thesis is on computer vision, so I know how to code it. one of my school projects this semester was automatic panorama generation from several images, pretty close subject. When I have time (I have to work on my thesis now) I'll try doing this from video frames, which should or could look like this one I hope.
