I don't think you should beat yourelf up over the fire, I doubt anyone really has mastered drawing it XD.
If anything I think it would look more like fire if the middle of the streams of flame was lighter.
Otherwise this looks fantastic!

Not so much a lighter color I think. Moreso a big blend of all blues colors, with the light colors in the middle and getting darker as they go. Goog luck with it next time!
