Description So here she is, Liza from the anime Last period. Would have put the anime name in the title if not for it's awkward implications when taken out of context.
I've been working on this for a while and because I've been experimenting it look me a good 20 hours - which I've recorded to upload a speedpaint video later. I might add colour in a few months after I rested my mind and renewed my desire to finish it, because right now I'm kinda worn out from this.

UPDATE: Speed paint Vid: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxQzqb…

Been referring a pic from the anime
imgur.com/a/X6nXvoI

And this pic someone drew, which looks good, but I don't want to copy it, just take inspiration from it, so it feels less like cheating XD

Here are my initial plans:
Possition/proportion: www.deviantart.com/rayaxe2/art…
Basic details: www.deviantart.com/rayaxe2/art…
Begining of final linework: www.deviantart.com/rayaxe2/art…
Adding detail to chest: www.deviantart.com/rayaxe2/art…
Drafting the bag: www.deviantart.com/rayaxe2/art…

What would be nice is if people gave me feedback. Not sure if I messed up the feathers on my right side and if the frills are OK...

Hello! I’m here from ProjectComment.

This piece is really eye-catching – beautifully done and just so detailed, I couldn’t help but pop in to look at it when I noticed the thumbnail in the gallery. I think the best part of this, in testament to your skill, is that it should really look amazingly cluttered given all of the linework you’ve done, but it doesn’t. I think the fact that you used much less detail on the areas of her face and legs, which are both pretty large in comparison to other individual pieces of the picture, kind of give the viewer’s eye a bit of breathing room to rest and figure things out. I really like it.

The detail of her… would you call it a… well, I’ll call it a chestpiece, is just amazing. Again, not confusing, but clearly a bit frenetic and ornate. It really makes me wonder what the purpose is, because with the way the character is just sitting there on her travel pack, it’s obviously something she’s comfortable in. Or maybe it’s her formalwear for an event she’s really looking forward to? I think it’s a cool thing to draw something that can make people wonder like that.

The bag is a bit of a treat in itself, too. Less busy than the girl’s outfit, but still chock full of story you can wonder about. I love the details you did provide, like the tiny bird cage and the water bottle. You also did a great job of making it evident that the girl is putting weight on the bag as she sits there – sometimes drawings can look like interacting parts aren’t actually putting any force against one another. I think you did a great job of avoiding that here.

That’s all I have, but if there was anything you were hoping to get a comment on that I missed, just let me know and I’ll try to swing back for another look. This really is a great job.

Kevin

Thanks for the background! I think you did a great job of making the character your own in this drawing.

Thanks for the feedback!
The drawing is of a character from an anime/game I think have really creative character designs, but I mostly modifies the design to fix my style, so most the details like the stitching and bag ornaments are stuff I thought up myself. So it's kinda meant to look over the top with the massive bag and impractical clothing - It's pretty much a given in most Japanese female character designs XD
I personally don't think the bag looks like it has enough weight on it, but I'm not skillful enough with drawing to address that XD It's nice to know the issue isn't to noticeable on your end

You're line work is super! I still struggled with getting neat lines that don't cross over to much and you seem to have it down perfectly. The leg facing the viewer looks about an inch shorter than it should be but other than that and maybe a slight move of the left eye, you're anatomy is pretty spot on. The bag looks very real, and i'm curious to know all the cool stuff that's in it. It must be a lot considering she's carrying it. Her outfit is so beautifully detailed and her hair is textured nicely. It'd be nice if her shoes were a little more interesting to make them as dramatic as the rest of the costume, just for cohesiveness. You did a spectacular job and I can't wait to see the finished product, I'm sure it'll be grand. Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks for the feedback!
I think you're right, I should add more details to the legs for some extra cohesion and I'm planning to when I get the time to finally finish this. I'll double check and modify the leg height while I'm doing that.

P.S. The key to straight lines is an obnoxiously high pen stability and spamming ctrl+z (you can probably see me press undo a lot in the speedpaint vid) XD

Thanks!
TBH I nearly gave up on it because of how much detail I put on it, it was a bit overwhelming trying to draw them while considering how they look in different angles and with the various creases XD

Hey guys. Animator-supreme here, with Project Comment group. Just wanted to drop in and have a look at this fun piece, here.
I gotta say, this is an interesting looking piece. There is so much going on, that I feel like I’m enjoying an I Spy page. I look at this a little long and find something new to like. The patterns on the armor, stitching, even the bag. I really like this line art. In particular, I really like the conquistador helm-like arm armor, with the angular swirl, instread of a smooth arch. It was an unexpected sight with this and was playful for my eyes. This is one piece, when done, I’d really love to see in color. My one peeve with this piece is also the same thing so really enjoy about it: it’s so busy. The frills, feathers, and patterns all seem to crowd the center of the figure, her torso. But her legs are comparatively plain, and so is the bag. Her head, shoulders and waist all have great details, sometimes I seems like too much around the joints. Then the legs are plain stockings, then the bag seems bare, for an adventurer’s bag. Maybe add some more trinkets hanging off the bag, a few scuffs and patches, some stitching, and/ or even a doll. Then the plain legs would be a welcome break and transition between armor and bag.
All in all, I still say this is a fine piece is should be praised as such. I look forward to seeing more of this artist’s work, in the future.

Thanks for the feedback!
I spotted the same problem you did a while after I finished drawing it, but didn't know how to fix it without giving the stockings a pattern (which I didn't want to do since it would deviate too much from the original character's look) but your suggestion is a pretty good alternative for, so thanks!

There is a lot going on in this. There is a lot for someone to look at and I think that makes it interesting. I love all the details!
