Description Ashton wants to get into print work and was referred to me by a fellow photographer who does concerts and live events. He has a desire to do more studio work so he asked to come along to the shoot and I invited him to the studio. I have not used my Canon for that many shoots ( I just switched from Nikon ) so I am still learning the quirks of the camera so it was good to have him and my studio-mate at the studio to point out some of the aspects of the camera.

I typically will work a few different setups with a client, but with Ashton, I did around 7 different set ups around the studio and outside. This shot was towards the end. The sun was getting to that "golden hour". It was kind of harsh still, but enough golden light came through to get some good shots.

I have not done a bunch with split tones in Lightroom so this is my first time really going for it. I had a certain look in mind and normally I do it in Photoshop, but this time I tried to do it all in Lightroom. I don't know if I had my polarize filter for these shots so the sky was not as dark as I had liked it to be, but it still turned out pretty well.

The colors are so good here, her clothes, boots, the sand.. It all fits so smooth together. It's really good how you positioned her in the photo, and her expression is also good.
You should drive her out into the desert and have shoot. Exact same setting just with a kickass background
Somehow it just really reminds me of Texas. Must be the boots...

Your polar filter can't get any better effect on the sky from this angle. It seems you didn't have it

What camera you got now? And why Canon?

Thank you very much. It was my first "fashion" type of shoot in a while so I was not sure how it was going to turn out. That show was done right outside my studio, but yeah I wish I didn't have soo much background in the shot.

I am using a Canon 5D and a 24-70L lens. I have been a Nikon shooter for years, but I started making films and the Canon 5D is a great camera for it. That is the main reason for switching. I do like the quality of the camera over the Nikon 700 and the lenses are great. The only complaint I have is the focusing is not as good as the Nikons.

Cool! Yea 5D is really a great camera. Pretty neat start with Canon!
Where do you use/show your movies? I only saw one via your journal long ago. It was very well made!

I have not done much movie making lately. I was going to do another Halloween inspired film just to do something, but other things got in the way. I have been doing a lot of promotional work for now, but Ill get back into it soon. I put up a site where I will be posting though, www.denverlightingcompany.com, but I will post anything good on this site too. Thanks for the compliment.
