My first attempt at pin up work. Holly has a real love for this type of look and I wanted to capture it as best I could. Granted most of my work has a darker tone, so this was a bit of a challenge, but light is light right? She was such a good sport and for both of us, this was a first, so I think we did ok. And not even any photoshop done to enhance the colors. Just fixed some blemishes and highlights. Maybe someday I wont have to do any photoshop at all!!Related content

These early shots were probably my Nikon D300. I still have it packed away somewhere. For these pin-up shots I had an alienbee behind her to give her a rim light and then I had a giant parabolic reflector right behind me. That was it for this shot. Despite any type of equipment I may have had, I don't think this shot would have been successful with just anyone. Holly was a living walking pin up and just pointing my camera at her was enough.
Of all my work, this shot and the other one of her are the ones I get activity on to this day. I have done some pin up stuff since, but nothing will equal what this shot has.

Yes...I agree that pictures rquire this very someone. I have started my adventure not long ago. I was always interested in photography, collected literature, read a lot.... and finally I desided to step in. The more I get in the more I love it. And I see models love working with me - and I think this is partially my personality but rather a side effect of me being a commucation trainer and a former English teacher. I believe photography is very much about communication.
I learn that to get good effect I need to find this very fascinating thing about this exact person. The more I shoot people the more I want shootng them and the less I want shooting cars...
This is a great new experience for me - suddently I am finding myself in a world I feel comfortable in.... Like showing people they want to look as...

I am in awe of the classic pinup style with fun colors and a modern twist. You completely captured it all here. Holly is a beauty and looks natural for a pinup model. Great job!

Yes, Holly is a living portrait haha.I was glad to have that blue background to work with at the studio I was renting at the time. It does compliment her dress very well. Perhaps Ill ring her up and see if she wants to try it again someday. Thank you for the comment.

this model looks like a great pin up model to me, dunno what the guy down there is talking about. don't have to fit the perfect look, i think this photo is amazing!

Thank you, I think she is as well, but I can see his point. The traditional pin up models are very curvy and voluptuous. Holly is a tiny girl, but I still think she did a great job and she really respects the era and tradition so I give her props for it. Its also why I don't really shoot pin up stuff. I did it with her because she lives that life. I find it difficult to take just any model and turn them into a pin up...maybe I should try it. It has been a long time since I shot these..eek.

It's tough work. All that smiling is enough to wear out a girl for months! She'll have to do a lot of frowning to make up for it
