This statue inspired so many artists. Probably is one of the most important sculpture of the art history !

I totally agree!! The first time I saw it, I got constant chills up my spine. It should've been marvellous when it was first erected and yes it still is.

Besides there are hundreds of similar sculpture, for example the Gattamelata in Padova [link] , the Giambologna's Cosimo I [link] , the never made Leonardo's equestrian statue of Francesco Sforza [link] etc.

Yes and the statue of Marcus was executed in bronze in the second century. The other statues are made from marble and and are dated back to the renaissance period. Which makes them almost incomparable to the Statue of Marcus Aurelius. For me this statue really stands out with al it's grandeur. It is really classical art at it's height.
