It's kind of an alternate history-loop inside my work. I want my g-rated work like DoomGadget to ultimately be seen as a precursor to what happens in my naughty work - a continuous story. But in the naughty stuff, Jalapena works as a stripper, and I can't have that in the g-rated part. So on the g- side of the divide, she's a waitress and she & Monty are just getting together.

I can't see why she can't be both. A few of the strippers I've talked to in the past had more than one job. Many had children to support.

Just goes to show that you can't judge a person based on one aspect of their lives.

Obviously, she could, at different times, or doing both (or even working in a topless restaurant). But some of the folks over at the Cafe are very sensitive to any suggestion of naughtiness, and I wanted something I could present as "family friendly".

It's been a while, but yes some strippers are supporting themselves and families or paying for school. I don't think there is anything shameful in it at all - this particular work is just targeted for a more general audience.
