Description
Alcyone (the lady) and Ceyx (the bird) from Greek mythology. They were both originally human, blissfully happy in their marriage, but extremely disrespectful of the gods. Who punished them, as the Greek gods usually did. Ceyx was drowned at sea, and when she heard of it, Alcyone drowned herself. After death, they both became kingfishers.
