wow, this piece looks great! I love how you contrasted the dark colours with a patch of sunlight in the centre.
Here are a couple of things that you could do to improve this piece:
Variate the types of plants in the picture. I understand that a forest would generally have similar trees, but this isn’t the case for all forests. A patch of woodland can contain countless different species and variations of plants, trees and animals. Alternating the foliage would really make a difference in terms of piquing the viewer’s interest.
Variate the light and dark spots. A forest often has many random gaps between the foliage at the very top, which means that a light spot wouldn’t always be in the centre. Alternating these spots would create more contrast between the dark and light, further capturing the viewer’s attention.
Although this is a practice piece, composition is always important! Remember to variate what you do in the drawing - or it’ll turn into a generic landscape.
