Malay culture is about 99.9% muslims. And since muslim women aren't allowed to wear clothes that show any part of the body that may cause other males to ...you know, that's why they cover their whole body. But that's why you will find more intricate design on their clothes than other wedding dresses out there. Check out indian wedding dresses, pakistani, and other muslims/hindu/buddhist religion oriented countries culture and clothings. They are usually very decorated.
