The contest was to do a piece inspired by the colors blue, purple/violet, or red. I chose blue. The piece had been sitting in my head since Christmas. I live in Southern California making snow a novelty, so I wanted to do a piece with someone going out and enjoying the first snow of the year. I wanted a soft feeling to the piece, so that it inspires the romantic feel of going out in light fluffy snow. So of course I finish this in Spring >< Oh well.

As I always try to do, I challenged myself to work with an element I am weak with. This time around it was to create more fur feeling fur (last time I tired it looked like very coarse hair). I also attempted to make the hair feel softer. I also tried a slew of different techniques to add interest and vibrancy to my piece.
