Sister Wendy Lange was a novitiate attending Belloc Abbey Monastery in Urt France. Among her Sisters of Mercy, Wendy was known for getting into trouble, wandering outside her convent during silent hours, and with her authoritarian affair, having trouble vowing for obedience. The Reverend Mother took no shame in beating Wendy mercilessly for her sins, for without her knowledge was pushing Wendy away from her faith. Her belief in the Divine started to drift back and fourth with each punishment. One morning in a fit of temper, Wendy cast off into the forest. “Is there truly a Holy, Supreme being out there?” Flustered and bewildered, Wendy yields and returns back to the Monastery, not noticing her habit apprehended by a rotting log. In a daze she awakes, she has no idea where she is. Her eyesight clouded by a sea of dark fog and thick boughs protruding twisted limbs....
