Description
This is an M1 Abrams Heavy Armor variant. They upgraded some of the original M1s with heavier armor and the 120 mm cannon, replacing the 105s that they started out with. At least that's what I think this one was, it was hard to tell really since there were some characteristics that could fit either an M1 or an M1A1.This tank sits at the 1st Cavalry Division Museum on Fort Hood in Texas.

Yea, it can get very annoying having to keep looking and reaching over to do everything instead of having it right in front of you where it could easily be accessable. I do like how it has that "fire and forget" feature between the tc and the gunner's scopes though.

I also wish that I had managed to get a chance to design a compartment under the driver's legs for his items, such as helmet and LBE to be stored. It's hollow in there, as a General Dynamics fella told me, so it could have been done.

The first time I got in the drivers seat of th A2 I was like "where did everything go?", I couldn't believe everything was on that little screen. Pretty cool.

Had a 2 week training session right after basic at Knox to get the basics of the newer machine. Became handy, but I wish the screen was in front, not to the side.
