I think long animations is underestimated in DA.

A lot of people don't realize what it takes to animate and do it well. It's funny the reaction I get when I tell people how much animation I pump out a week on average for work which is usually about a minute. They think I can animate an entire episode of something by myself in a month! It doesn't work that way. I've also been contacted by people who want me to animate their graphic novel or whatever and then they say something like, "Yeah and we want to put out about 10 minutes of animation a week." and right there that tells me that they know nothing about animation if they think that I, alone, from scratch can produce 10 minutes a week. Yeah, sure, let me get out my magic wand.

I had to refuse this week a freelance 3d work because that same reason. They spected a 15 minute video of 3d animaton abaout realistic characters working in different places in one and half month. They succesfully comissioned me a lot of vectorial illustrations in the past, maybe they thought that animation is just a bit harder.

I think what it is, is that most people don't get what it really takes to animate something. I think most people just think that it's just a series of drawings without a science that's applied to it to make it work. Animation is hard folks. There's a reason why there's something called the 12 principles of animation.

I don't think it so advanced. They sinply think that there's a magic software that does evething with 3 clicks.

It can be if you try to apply everything to do full animation. But yeah one of my fellow animators and I sometimes joke about hitting the "animate" button on the keyboard to do the work.
