Description
Making myself a Middle Eastern dress for women called an "abaya."
Abaya is a traditional Middle Eastern robe/dress that can be worn over another outfit and is loose fitting because, in Islam, tight clothing is not allowed. Plus, considering the hot weather in the Middle East, not a good idea to wear tight clothes.
-I also had to research some styles and the color for the abaya may or may not be okay(scholars debate on whether colorful abayas are allowed. But given cultural circumstances, you don't want to wear dark clothes in a usually bright-colored clothing place or occasion, because it stands out, which is not the intention of Islamic clothing). Women's fashion in Islam has a bit of leeway compared to men's as they can wear gold, silk, and jewelry, whereas Muslim men can't(yet Ottoman Empire men say otherwise when it comes to jewelry, hehe...)
-The hijab I drew(not really though because it doesn't cover all the hair, neck, or chest, plus visibly shear fabric) according to a Turkish show I watched which shows the different styles of hijabs, the same goes for the sash with being a Turkish inspo and the neck covering to give extra modesty. The sash can be functional if you're carrying prayer beads or a satchel for cash payment, etc.
-The Jade pendant comes from my Chinese roots, as I'm of Chinese descent. While the pendant was worn for superstitious reasons(and kinda pricey), this is a shikh(innovation) in Islam, so it'll be purely for decorative reasons.
NOTE: This is a drawing of what my outfit should look like after I make it. But I don't have a jade pendant, so I'll find some other belt decoration. The sash is made using polyester fabric
