EDIT (please read this) : At the time I made this, I was at a relatively exclusive private school where more than half the students did drugs. Though marijuana was the most popular choice, cocaine and speed were also very prominent. Cocaine, especially, was used by the students as a symbol of their privilege. Needless to say, the two or three straight-edgers that attended the school were beyond militant. Since creating this piece, I went through a straight-edge phase before experimenting briefly with marijuana before finally ending up back where I started. (Generally sober but I'll have a drink occasionally.)To me, this piece now represents a different battle between straight-edgers and drug users. I volunteer at an all-ages punk music club. Some of the kids who go to shows do drugs and some don't. After a particularly violent straight-edge hardcore show, some older, violent straight-edgers who were not regulars at the club beat up some of the usual attendees who were stoners. (The average age of the straight-edgers was 20 and the average age of the stoners was 15.) Naturally, the stoners were very upset and began to take out their ire on the usual kids who were straight edge (who had nothing to do with the fight). All in all it's a bad situation.
Like I said before in the comments, I'm not on anyone's side. I just want the war to stop.

There's an ongoing battle at my school between the stoners and the straight-edgers.

The day this war stops is the day all war stops, and human kind learns true acceptance... or total apathy, not caring what anyone does.
As long as theirs drunk drivers, 2nd hand smoke, cartels controlling governments, Straight edgers will have a reason to fight.
Differences are what makes us human. To have peace between humans is to loose the right to be different.
So until the impossible happens...
Substance abusers and uptight edgers will keep at it.

pots no biggie. its funny,my one friend who is stoned ALL the time, recently her employers found out shes a stoner and they were "shocked" little do they know theyve never seenher NOT stoned.

It depends on the person. Some can hold their pot better than others. Because it's a mood enhancer, it's great for naturally calm people. For naturally anxious people, however, it can be a nightmare. It also depends on how much pot you smoke and when you smoke it.
As a general rule though, I agree that pot's pretty harmless, at least compared to most other drugs.

yes i agree. while ot dpesnt cause hallucinations i once had a friend and when she smoked pot "the ground would shake"

I'm a straight-edger but I don't really care about what the stoners do, it's their life, their body, they can mess it up of they want to. I'm not going to argue with them. Awsome picture btw

I like to read and write.
Even people that have known me for a while are surprised when they find out that
I smoke pot sometimes.
I don't talk or brag about, and I would NEVER force or trick someone into doing something they didn't want to do.
I'm sorry to hear you've had such negative experiences.
I wish everyone could get along and accept each other and our differences.

I don't think less of you for it. Don't worry. I only dislike when people are only interested in drugs an nothing else (including basic decency.) That doesn't seem like you at all.

&I don't think people can be straight-edge... If some people were straight-edge, we wouldn't think about drugs, alcohol, ciggs, or sex.

I do think everyone at least thinks about it at last once. I guess straight-edgers just call themselves that because they're better at ignoring those urges. I don't really get the whole rivalry. People should just do what they want in terms of that stuff.
