Aww!!! Thank you so very much, my dear friend! Β  Β  I got so excited when I saw this and I could hardly believe that it was for me! I adore the Tim Burton style with my whole heart and Coco looks like a wonderful film that I absolutely cannot wait to see! They all look so wonderfully precious- especially Hector- I really love how you gave him a Jack Skellington-esque vibe to him all while staying true to his original character design! And Dante!Β  Β Oh little Dante is absolutely PRECIOUS! I love Tim Burton's style when it comes to dogs as well, so you just drew Miguel's sweet hairless pooch in the most wonderful fashion! Excellent work as always and I am so touched that you drew this for meΒ  Β

You're very welcome, mi amiga!

It was so much fun combining the elements of both Jack and Hector, they're both such lovable skeletons!

Dante was another part of the art I truly enjoyed drawing, it was fun to convey Dante as a Burtonized character (right down to his floppy tongue, which was the hardest part)

I was happy to do this Β

Absolutely! Burton’s skeletal characters are always so sweet and full of life- as is Hector, from what you’ve told me about him so far!

And I’m sure Dante was a real blast to Burtonize- Burton’s art style really suits him well, given his design for the film!

Thank you again- I cannot thank you enough for drawing this for me

The best part about "Coco", it takes Burton's approach at making skeletons likable, and makes them 10 times more likable ^^

I had to study dog muzzles from Burton movies, then find the best one to apply to Dante (namely, Scraps when he was alive)

You're welcome, my dear friend Β

Absolutely! I love it whenever other films mimic Burton's approach to creating their skeleton and zombie characters by making them charming and giving them sweet personalities. ^^Β

And that's why Dante's Buronesque design looked a little familiar! I thought that he kind of looked like Scraps when he was alive!

To an extent, Paranorman showed the zombies in a human light towards the end
Sometimes, to feel sorry is human

I have Scraps to thank for lending me that familiar muzzle ^^

Absolutely! I really liked how the film showed their humanity under their rotting exterior due to how sorry they had felt about what they did to Aggie when all of them were alive. And like you said, feeling truly sorry is a very human emotion.Β

And absolutely! Gotta love Scraps!

Part of what made them more human was to hear Judge Hopkins tell Norman (in a normal voice)
why they did what they did

He epitomizes how dog's go beyond fur and flesh

LocalPeaches In reply to Ready2Create [2017-12-31 07:40:01 +0000 UTC]

I agree- I really liked how we had gotten to see the zombies through Norman's eyes, and get to hear what he heard while speaking with them.Β

And I totally agree- Scraps has to be one of my most favorite animated dogs! Still as lively as when he was alive and absolutely precious, even though he's only a skeleton now.

I think part of how he understood them was because, for all intents and purposes,
the zombies were 'ghosts'

If you like lively animals, I think you may like Dante in the movie

LocalPeaches In reply to Ready2Create [2018-01-01 14:04:11 +0000 UTC]

That's true- Norman does have the uncanny ability to talk to ghosts, so I'm sure that this ability applies to zombies as well.Β

It would explain why we only hear Judge Hopkins moan while riding in the car with the Babcock family

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LocalPeaches In reply to Ready2Create [2018-01-02 16:58:32 +0000 UTC]

That's true! Only Norman could understand him, so it would make sense that we only heard Hopkins moan in the car while Norman was responsible for interpreting what he said.

If you think about it, this is how Perry came to trust that Norman could see ghost,
because there was actually someone there who was talking

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LocalPeaches In reply to Ready2Create [2018-01-03 22:47:21 +0000 UTC]

That's true! That same scene is when Perry does recognize that his son wasn't joking when he said that he could talk to ghosts. He even came to believe that his mother was indeed sitting next to him on the couch at the end of the film!Β

Ready2Create In reply to LocalPeaches [2018-01-04 01:08:23 +0000 UTC]

Also, I like to go with the theory that Perry was being grouchy with his son
because he was grieving over his mother

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LocalPeaches In reply to Ready2Create [2018-01-04 13:29:37 +0000 UTC]

That's another possibility!Β

Ready2Create In reply to LocalPeaches [2018-01-05 01:50:07 +0000 UTC]

Why do you think he was grouchy with Norman?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LocalPeaches In reply to Ready2Create [2018-01-05 13:58:32 +0000 UTC]

Like you said, I personally like the idea that he was still mourning the loss of his mother, so he didn't particularly care that Norman was still talking to her.Β

I guess for him, hearing his own son talk about his dead mother
kind of opened up some wounds for him

If this was a true Burtonized, non of POCs would have main character roles.
