Description As I said before, I promised to make more of my Hollow Knight characters, and I'm here to deliver ^v^

Here's 1 out of 3 of Ikolu's ragtag expedition team.

(Please forgive me for not knowing "Hollow Knight" lore as much as I should!)

Ikolu was a bit worried he wouldn't he wouldn't have a team to call his own and would have to journey the great unknown by himself.  He would've thrown in the towel, if he hadn't found his new friends.

(From right to left)

RACTL
Class Alignment: Wizard
Species: Hummingbird Moth
Alignment: Lawful Good

When she was younger, she was often bullied for being bookish and for having a fascination for magic.  They would call her names like "bookworm" and "weakling" and even accuse her of witchcraft. The bullying and witchcraft accusations were what drove her to not only study hard, but start building her muscles so no would ever hurt her again.  It took a while, but the next time someone picked a fight with her, they were surprised by not only a strong Ractl, but a magically POWERFUL one.  She had a new name now: Ractl the Studied! Thus far, Ractl's kept the Radiance's influence at bay by studying the very magic others mocked her for, thanks to a spell that shrugs off hypnotism or anything that messes with free will. Also, her studies have also lead her to weave a custom-made ability: Fearful Eyespots (her wings can reflect any of her enemies' worst fears when she unfurls them).   When she joined this expedition team, she naturally looked down on Gibbus and Thleau, because she felt neither of them rightfully earned their powers.  Gibbus merely "borrowed" his powers to instantaneously get them, and Thleau's raw talent was "no substitute for hard work".  But once she learned of their back story and hardships, she softened up in a way she hadn't in a long time. She's become like an aunt to the two of them, often offering to make them honeysuckle cookies.  She may value intelligence, but she's starting to see the value in companionship.  In turn, Gibbus and Thleau look after her, even though she's far stronger than an older woman.  They often worry why she makes it a point to carry her spellbook everywhere she goes, even to the point it will be ruined by the elements.  The truth is, she carries all the best spells in the only place she deems safe: her mind.

GIBBUS
Class: Warlock
Species: Luna Moth
Alignment: Neutral Good

During the time of the Great Infection, Gibbus was beside himself.  His elderly parents passed on, and many of his relatives were claimed by the plague.  Worst of all, he suspected he was also infected.  He sent off his beloved twin brother Waxeen to get as far away as he could, possibly to never see him again.  He would've succumbed to his fate, content he could at least save his twin. But by simple luck, he was spiritually contacted by another being, a mysterious entity that called itself "The Spark".  According to it, this was a Chaotic Good deity of inspiration who may or many not have bestowed bugs their capacity to be inspired and create.  Why it did not help other bugs is a mystery.  But a pact was formed between Gibbus and the Spark under a full moon: The Spark would provide the power of inspiration, and our luna moth would channel this power to create magic, or even give inspiration to those who needed it.  The very instant the pact was struck, his eye spots were bleached white, as though marking him as a disciple of the Spark and a survivor of the plague.  And he faithfully keeps this pact, for if he should break it, he would die on the spot.  Ironically, what was supposed to give him a second chance at life also isolated him from other bugs.  For a couple years, Gibbus became a wandering hero, trying his best to reach out to others and protect them with his magic.  But in one form or another, he always had to keep on moving.  And too bad really, he's a compassionate and sentimental gentleman with a creative streak.  When he met his expedition team, he was giddy to have someone to share his bottomless inspiration with.  Although his amicability and bleeding heart extends to everyone in the party, he has a soft spot for Ractl as an aunt and Thleau as the younger brother he lost those years ago.

THLEAU
Class: Sorcerer
Species: Morpho Butterfly
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Thleau of the House Morpho has always been special, as he came into the world with a playful, mischievous spirit and a natural gift for wild magic.  On the night he hatched, his wild magic made his family's hut turn purple for two solid months.  And later on, when he emerged from his chrysalis, the magic manifested his very own wand from the shell of his chrysalis.  Everyone could easily see he was unfathomably powerful, garnering the attention of bug-kind.  Perhaps he could be brought up to use his magic to banish the plague, even heal those who were afflicted.  But ultimately, when is was clear the lad couldn't control his magic, they all gave up on him, and he faded into obscurity.  And what little magic he could control was meager.  So recently, he sought the tutelage of Ractl the Studied! (And Reclusive.) She initially accused he was a hack, but she had him pegged wrong: although it seems like he has it easy being born with his magic, he actually has it very tough.  Everyone has high expectations of him.  He's supposed to be a gifted child, so he's expected to be naturally gifted at controlling it.  He figured she could teach him to master his wild magic, but she has two conditions.  First, he has to leave behind his life at House Morpho to take his training to the wilderness (meaning join the expedition team) in order to have training grounds so no one gets hurt.  Okay, he can do that.  The high life was never for him.  Second, Ractl expects a certain level of intelligence from him.  Well, no one ever said Thleau was particularly bright, but he's very willing to learn, and that's important.  And so it came to pass that Ractl and Gibbus took the eager Thleau under their wings, literally.  And they came to help him see his imperfection as a wild magic user is nothing to be ashamed of and, given his michief, may be his greatest strength.

KEESUL
Class: Ranger
Species: Velvetworm
Alignment: Lawful Good

As Velvetworms are considered the centaurs of Dirtmouth, they come off as awe-inspiring and intimidating.  But normally, they're a gentle, content folk who just want a profession as cloth-weavers, using their silk to sell various clothing and fabrics.  But for Keesul the Courageous, that wasn't the life for him.  He was a daring and boisterous soul who wanted to be a hunter, perhaps even a warrior!  That's how he came to  meet WOBO! The timid little pillbug was in danger of being eaten by a feral wolf spider, but Keesul decided to intervene and used his archery to put the starving, slavering predator out of its misery.  Not only did he gain a new pet in Wobo, but he also gifted his mother the wolf spider's pelt to sell.  Although she appreciated the gift, Keesul's exasperated mother took it as a sign he needed to find himself.  He was too brave and rowdy to stay in a silk shop until the end of his days, so it was time he left the nest.  Secretly, she wanted to shelter her brave baby boy from how the plague had left so little of their kind left.  Little did she know that sending her son out into the world would be their people's salvation, as his new expedition would give them a chance to grow.  Keesul and Wobo are a good team, with the velvetworm having a technique where he bucks the pill bug with his back legs, sending him flyng towards his opponents.  If he doesn't stun them first, Keesul will finish them with his trusty bow (for which he named Merino).  But don't let his spirited personality fool you, he's the smartest tracker there is.  He's smart enough to know how to survive off the land.  It's part of why he was asked to join the expedition in the first place.

CREAA
Class: Artificer
Species: Leafhopper
Alignment: Neutral Good

From the time she came into this world, she was... different.  As a nymph, she often avoided eye contact, had a fixation for stacking rocks, and threw tantrums if you touched her play things.  No one could deny her personality would set her apart from the other leafhopper nymphs.  It was hard enough being born the way she was, but it was harder when it was in the midst of the Great Infection.  Since everyone outside her family shunned her, their hostility quickly shaped her introverted personality, on top of an inability to read the room.  But what she lacked in social graces, she made up in being intelligent and inovative.  She was a natural tinkerer and quickly made inventions left and right when she got older.  When she was just a child, she fashioned her very own work gloves.  The trade-off left her a shut-in who rarely ventured outside of her workshop, (though in wake of the plague, that might've been a blessing in disguise).  The only reason she even considered leaving was because Ikolu was her neighbor, and he was polite enough to offer she come.  She initially turned it down, but decided it would benefit her in the long run.  After all, this expedition might mean a new frontier where she could rent an isolated cabin away from everyone else.  Don't get her wrong, she's not a mysanthrope.  If anything, she does warm up to her new friends beautifully, she just prefer they bond sparingly.  Everyone worries for her, as she's clearly not ready for the adventure.  But what they don't know is, some of her inventions are just for this very occasion: she's armed to the mandibles with gadgets that enhance her strength and speed, and armor for days.  If anyone's ready for the expedition, perhaps it's her.

Ikolu was pleased.  It wasn't a big team (yet), but he was content.  But to his delight, more party members came.
And more will come...

Commentary: Most of these OCs' names are either a corruption or based on something.  Heck, Ikolu's name is parts of "Mole" and "Cricket" combined and added with a "U".  So here's the etemology list for each name.
Ractl was a variation of a hummingbird name I found somewhere along the line.
Gibbus (and by extent his twin brother Waxeen) were borrowed from the term Gibbous Waxing Moon.
Thleau is borrowed from Pthalo Blue (Originally, if my sorcerer had been a sorceress, I would've named her Blurpelle, after blurple, a shade of blue)
Keesul was named after Cisele, a kind of velvet (seeing she's a velvet worm and what-not)
Wobo is a corruption of the word "wobble", hence "roll", hence rolly-polly
Creaa was a special case where I couldn't think of what to name her based on her species.  But then I thought of an episode of the 2008 "Twilight Zone" where a mysterious creature's name (Creetor) was derived from the word "Creator".  "Creator" suited her, so I named her Creaa.

If you're wondering which one was my favorite to draw, just know that the answer is: YES!  Because I had fun drawing each and everyone of these creations!  All the while listening to "All Things DND" stories.

Enjoy!
