Description The Moon King wasn't the only one deeply affected by Sariatu's choice.

Before her betrayal, Washi and Karasu were relatively laid-back sorts.  They weren't ones to take their mission seriously, even though they excelled at it.  Still, it always injured their pride whenever their father was displeased if they were anything less than perfect... Like their eldest sister.

Regardless, they did not envy Sariatu so much as they did admire her and pity the pressure put on her.  She was after all the Moon Princess, and the "order" of the city rested on her shoulders.
Even in those care-free days, however, they weren't above doing their father's dirty work.  And they RELISHED it.  They enjoyed the bloodlust like no before, not even the Moon Princess.
Still, if they were being honest, their efficiency as assassins was nothing when compared with their ruthless sister.  All they could ask for was to guard they city alongside her.

But one fateful night, she did not come home.  She was suppose to eliminate that meddlesome Samurai Beetle, crush him like a bug.  But from what they could discern, he probably turned the tables on her...

Devastated, the Sisters vowed to avenge their eldest, to personally squash the Samurai Beetle like the crawling, lowly insect he was.

But in roughly 9 months time, they were horrified to discover that not only was Sariatu alive and sided with Hanzo, but had spawned his offspring.
Words could not describe the abomination of it!  They had always placed her on a pedestal as a paragon of ruthless efficiency, looking up to her in what could only be described as "Hero Worship".  And in that instant, all that worship soured into disdain and loathing.
This traitor was no longer the perfect Moon Princess.

When all was said and done that night, they vowed to bring their sister to "justice"...

Enter...

The Black Birds : Cunning and cruel, they will stop at nothing to kill their treacherous sister, capture Kubo and, in by doing so, gain their father's favor.  They have inherited their father's reality-manipulating powers, which the commoners call "magic".  But they use this magic carefully to hide the fact that they are supers.  Rather they rely on their stealth and weapon training, using their shadow magic to conceal their movements and to disorientate their targets.  Of the two, Washi is more skilled at shadow manipulation, channeling it through her smoke pipe.  Her weapon is choice is a katana.  Karasu has too much fun using her Kusarigama, and prefers a more "hands-on" method.  The pair work together as one, an efficient killing machine...
Where there once was the Moon Princess as the Moon King's chief enforcer, there's now an empty hole, which the sisters have strove to fill with all their might.

Their mission may seem nigh impossible, given how clever their sister is at covering her tracks.  But they nonetheless know: to catch a bird, start by leaving a trail of breadcrumbs...

Enjoy!

Oh man this is so awesome! I love their super villain designs! Plus I really like how you had kept their designs similar to that of their canon outfits in the film, but gave them a slightly more modern touch! Great work!

Awww! Thank you so much!

I like how you put it,
'Keeping their canon outfits with a slightly more modern touch'

One is named for Washi paper, which is super delicate paper made from rice fibers; she smokes a kiresu, a long, thin Japanese pipe, and wields a wakizashi short sword if it's not a katana.  The other is named for the Japanese word for "crow", a carrion bird associated with death and dark magic; she wields a kusari-gama, a weighted chain with a sickle on one end used to swiftly disarm, chain, and knock out opponents.

The bio is still in the works, but when I recognize foreign words that go into naming people and objects, I like to share my knowledge with other people who might not know the origins.
