Description Happy late Fourth of July, all! I am only home for a few minutes before heading out again but I wanted to upload today's daily deity! I hope all of you are out having some fun and making some memories with your family! If you're not, get out and do something. *boingboing*  Alright, as per the rules of the stock gallery from which I used this model as reference, here is a link to their site (faestock.deviantart.com )

Now that the official business is out of the way, onward to the art! This picture is dedicated to our two newest members, Andrea Jackan and Kevin L. Caswick who are both fantastic folk! I look forward to seeing them again in the future. I know all of you who haven't met them will treasure their company as much as I did on Litha. Thank you guys for supporting our community with pleasant conversation and your unique personalities!

Today I present to you the Greek Goddess of Love, Aphrodite and a reference to the Goddess Hera! Born from the sea foam created by the eviscerated genitals of the Titan Uranus after Zeus claimed His place as King of Mount Olympus, Aphrodite hails from an island near Cyprus. Aphrodite is also the wife to Hephaestus (Lord of the Forge, otherwise known as Vulcan) but She had many lovers. One such lover was Adonis who was also with Persephone. After a few battles, it was deemed that Adonis would spend half of His year with Aphrodite and the other half with Persephone.

In this picture, Aphrodite is awarded the golden apple by Paris (See the Battle of Troy for more information.) It was up to him to decide who was the most beautiful Goddess of them all. During this reflection, Aphrodite is being watched by jealous Hera, wife to Zeus. Her eye is probably the most realistic eye I have ever drawn and I am quite pleased with the result. In retrospect I realize that I made it look similar to the opening of the show Hercules. *chortles* Hera is represented by a peacock feather but can also be seen as the cow in some tales.

As always, thank you for viewing my submissions. It's not about my art so much as the message. The Gods are speaking to us, from every nook in cranny in nature to the dreams we humans take for granted. We are blessed to have this communion with them if we are willing to learn the lessons wherein. Every comment, like and constructive bit of criticism is appreciated. Again, thank you for being my tribe.

Hi, I am Vern a.deviantart.net/avatars/v/k/v… " alt=" " title="VKA3" /> and I am here to critique your artwork.

Overview - We have a woman with a golden apple that glows. There is an eye watching her from the shadows. From the Description of the painting, we are told that the woman is Aphrodite and the eye is Hera. The description goes on to tell the story of Aphrodite. I chose to critique this picture because it is a very abstract picture.

Eye - The eye is very well done and you can see highlights and shading in the eye. I can't tell whether it is a man's eye or a woman's eye.

Background - The background is very abstract and it is difficult to know what is going on. I can't quite know what is going on. I know that the bottom of my right of the picture is pillars and fire. The top half of my right of the picture is consumed by fire. It the fire created by the Golden Apple? The top left features Hera's eye, And the bottom left is something. The barrier between Venus and the background is a little difficult to distinguish.

Venus - She is drawn very lovely and her face is beautiful. Her hair is a little too far up on the head and it looks like she is going bald. The rest of her is great. Excellent job.

Description - You have done a great job in the description of detailing Venus and her life. You have done an excellent job. Could you please describe what is going on in the background?

Conclusion - You have done an excellent job of detailing Aphrodite (I called her Venus because it is shorter) And the picture is very abstract. I look forward to seeing many more pictures of yours. I was a pleasure critiquing you. Have a great day.
