I like this piece a lot . I love how the textures that you use give it an almost cartoony feel, whilst the nature of the piece remains as a three dimensional landscape. Nice work.

Thanks. I've tryed some "cheat vector" in photoshop with it, just to see the result. But of course, this way is better.

This is Terragen. It's not that difficult, much easier than normal 3D editors.

The soft line and color used here really puts me in mind of an illustrator...I'm not sure of his name, but he did one of the "Middle Earth" book illustrations....so it's a big compliment. Great work!

This often happen with some renders, hehe.

christwriter [2005-07-10 07:39:33 +0000 UTC]

Interesting. 3d renders are not my specality, mostly because I've never done one, but I'll give you my best shot...

My first thought is that it looks a bit too washed out. The color choice is a bit too yellow towards the peaks, and the sky is actually a bit harsher than the rest of the landscape. I think it's because there are very few shadows here. Shadows and highlights are what make images like this pop out, and there are very few here. Also the peaks are too harsh. They look rendered, and they seem to have no depth to them at all.

I'd suggest using a 2D paint program like Photoshop or Gimp (which is free) to ajust things you can't do in the program you use. I wish I could offer you more advice than just what's wrong, but I don't know enough about what you can and can't do in a 3d program to be of much help.

The composision is very good, very balanced, especially with the majority of the clouds over where the majority of the peaks aren't. If you could just add a little more shading to the landscape, this would be a fantastic image.

Man, thanks for this great critique.

The yellow I can change in the PS, it's not that difficult.

The shadows are a problem, terragen (until someone tell me) work with only one light source, the sun itself. If I could I would make much more, placing lighting sources in the sides.

The peaks are a big problem. Even I didn't like them very much. I completely understand what you say, I tried to change them in photoshop, but I am not that good in photomanip. If you have a tip about that I would be happy to hear.

I think I can do something about the sky and the red clouds.

Once thanks for this critique, the best I received this far.
