well this was a texture practice so ignore the terrible anatonmy and focus on the texture..so does anyone have any good crit for the fur and feathers? thats what i need help with

The fur and feathers are really well done, although, the fur near the wings is a lot longer then the rest and looks a tad strange(or is it supposed to be like that?). Maybe you could have added more detail to the longest and 2nd longest feathers; maybe made them more ragged and have a bit more shine to it.
Does what I am saying make sense...? Or is it a blur??? {= \

Uhm... Hard to say in a picture so small...
The feathers near of the begin of the wing (the bones) are better than the other ones as a matter of texture. (Except the 4th, that one is good) As of shape, the opposite. The upper most feathers are way too long tho.
Also, feathers are like arrows. From the middle, they go to the edges in angle, so they "point" toward the origin.
The fur upper left the left eye looks a bit strange... The "mane" volume is a bit too... "volumous"? XD
The body fur is good, but looks big. The "patches" are big.
The best crit I could give you is posting a bigger picture. More details are always better. Don't be shy, it's good, seriously. ;3 Congrats! =^_^=
