Request for =HymnsOfMiseryAnother celestial horse...and this time it's the stunning Lucien floating through the clouds. I just love his markings.
I've been wanting to do a piece with a horse in the floating trot gait. I'm not sure if I got it right or not, so if you equestrian people have any suggestions, I'm all ears.
And yeah, his mane might should be a little more visible, but trust me, it just didn't look right with his neck being so gathered. So Lucien used a lot of styling product today, mmkay?

I`m also trying to improve horse anathomy in my drawings. Drawing horses is complicate and you are doing that very good.

I've got one old lineart that I've used a couple times, but I usually use Bori's lines for designing foals since they're so adorable to begin with.

You really put some great expression into Lucien. His character fairly bursts from the drawing. Also, the ears and the forward-most rear hoof just have some sort of interminable appeal. Something in the shapes.
What I didn't notice before is the select blurring you applied to certain larger areas of shading. That is a nifty technique and works exceptionally well with the fractal cloud background. Where did you pick it up?

As for the blurring, I just don't like lines that are too harsh when painting natrual forms. And most of the shading started out as hatching or scribbling and the unsmudged image looked horrible, heh. The cloud background was thrown together in about 5 minutes with some random cloud brushes by *redheadstock . Her brushes are simply amazing.
