Zack had met Madison one day when she was near a lake singing and was captivated by her voice. He later met her face to face after saving her from some villains and when she revealed herself as the princess, he felt unworthy of her. He tried to find a way to impress her instead of being a lonely orphan boy, but she tells him that she is in love with the kind, thoughtful, heroic Zack. After they start dating, with her parents permission, Zack affectionately calls her Maddie.
