There has been a third "Little Mermaid". Β It was a prequel about how Ariel first had a golden voice and loved to sing. Maybe it might be for a 4th "Little Mermaid" if they'll do it.

Why do I have a feeling the guy mermaid was the prince from the party?

He's not, they look slightly similar but the Prince from the party has blue eyes, thin blonde eyebrows, long fully blonde hair and palish skin. (vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/di⦠)
Whereas Alex (Disney's confirmed name for the merman) has green eyes, tan skin, thick brown eyebrows and dark blonde hair that has darker and lighter streaks through it (Surfer's hair as we call it in Australia). (disney.wikia.com/wiki/Alex )
When you think about it, they actually look nothing alike, andΒ Disney has confirmed that the only thing similar about them is the fact that they share the same voice actor
