Hey Guys, this is a character Design I was working on: is a Femele Gaucho (think is some sort of cowboy)in this caser a Hunter who hunts monsters , ghouls and ghosts!As main weapon se have a holy silver knive and blocks hits with her poncho! (the red fabric on her Arm)

Yes, the idea of the poncho as defensive tool is taken from the Argentinean Gauchos, the poncho was wraped around the arm doesnt work as a shield but as deflector and hook in a fight.
Lookig for documentation after working on a design could give you diffrent ideas and takes on a character.

Also, If you are into character design, try to make diffrent options on the subject and and question yourself about the hows and whys of the character.

Si a veces se complica, pero me pareció la salida mas sencilla.
Por otro lado me parece que hay que seguir el ejemplo de los norteamericanos o japoneses, que utilizaron sus raíces culturales en cultura pop como Naruto, los Westerns etc.
