It's been almost a month since my last activity here. You see, I've been really busy with studyingBut let's talk about this painting. I took a photo of it in the shadow and I know that it may disrupt the quality of the image. I just wanted to create a contrast between the shadow parts and those that need to be highlighted, okay?

Glad to know I'm not the only one that uses references to help me visualize what I want to paint. My brain just doesn't hold vivid images long enough for me to paint straight from my head, the images in my head seem to "flicker" out of focus constantly so I need a steady image to help me :-/ anyways it's a beautiful painting! Keep it up <3

I would say that using references is okay when you already have an idea in your head. I try not to use references most of the time but this painting was a bit different. Since I'm still bad at painting forest, I just wanted to practice different kinds of forests from photographies. And when I finished the painting I just had that urge to add something original - that ghost dear. You just have to keep on practicing so you can see images from your head clear enough to put them on the paper. Good luck, dear. And thank you!
