Ok, here’s the story behind this picture. I honestly don’t know these characters too well. I really like their designs though. I believe that they are spirits/minor gods that are currently inhabiting those bodies, but one of them was corrupted by people’s wishes (I think?)
Anyhoo, I always seen Dream represented as being optimism impersonated. To the point of foolishness sometimes. While his brother Nightmare is the complete opposite. So one story I thought for them is that Dream uses his powers to switch souls with Nightmare, not really thinking of the consequences. I figure that in the end it will be up to Nightmare to switch them back and it’s not going to be easy.
One of the reasons Nightmare might want to switch back is that Dream has a tendency to have a weird train of thought. You know how dreams tend to have their own wtf logic? That’s kind of how his power works. And Night hates it. Nevermind that nightmares work the same way, but THOSE make sense to him.
