Description

There was a series of poisonings in the city of New York, and the police and emergency responders were working overtime to find the cause and treat the injured. These cases were very similar to what happened in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa, years ago, so two members of the superhero team called The Titans began investigating the city’s water supply. Steel and Wonder Girl, armed with information on the Johannesburg poisonings provided by their teammate Nightwing, who was there helping with that crisis all that time ago, were joined by Robin, a member of The Justice League, which is another hero team. Sticking to the shadows, avoiding public attention and recording devices, Robin ventured into the sewers with Steel and Wonder Girl to follow a trail of a dangerous chemicals. The three were in a large part of the otherwise-cramped sewer system, and the trail of the green chemicals led to a wall and stopped there. Steel and Wonder Girl used their combined strength to smash the wall and they found a lot of steel drums leaking the ooze out. Robin examined the drums with his examination tools and found Luthorcorp logos that someone tried to remove, along with some information pertaining to a date, one that was about 16 years ago. The three hypothesized that these barrels of ooze were sealed up down here more than a decade ago by Lionel Luthor’s employees, on his behest, a while before everything that happened to Lionel Luthor. The Luthorcorp employees must have thought it was safe behind all that concrete, but now it’s beginning to leak out and infect the water supply via the sewer systems. Steel and Wonder Girl need to get top side and inform the authorities to get help to clean up the chemicals. Suddenly! Shadowed figures took out the lights in the sewers, striking from the crevasses and around the corners. The three heroes turned on their costumes’ night vision modes and they found four short humanoid beings closing in on them and they prepared for battle. The battle extended to the upper-more levels of the sewers, where the lights were still active, and the found the assailants to be… humanoid turtles with ninja weapons? Steel tried to use his magnetic powers to steal the turtle’s metallic weapons, but the turtle in the purple headband explained that they were forged using a non-magentic metallic alloy. The fighting continued, with Steel fighting two of the four turtles and Robin and Wonder Girl fighting one apiece until they crashed through a stone wall into the turtle’s sewer lair. A teenaged human girl got between our heroes and the turtles, compelling each side of the fight to stop! Knowing the vigilantes want an explanation, the girl, April O’Neil, introduced her friends to the heroes. The Ninja Turtles consist of four brothers, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael, who are all mutated turtles, each 16 years old (roughly). They found this old chamber in the sewers of NYC some time ago and have been living here with Sensei Splinter, a mutated humanoid rat who served as the Turtles’ father and ninjitsu mentor, ever since. After meeting Splinter and explaining the situation to this unorthodox family, the Turtles agreed to break bread with the trio and agree to cooperate in quelling the crisis above ground. And by ‘bread’, the Turtles meant ‘pizza’, their food of choice. As for April, she’s a high school student and journalism buff who was rescued from The Purple Dragons gang by the Turtles about a year ago. They’ve been friends ever since, with April doing what she can above surface to help with the Turtles’ nighttime crime-fighting. Splinter explained also, that he was the pet rat of a ninja master, Hamato Yoshi, but was left on the streets after his owner’s death. He was mutated by the same ooze that the heroes were following, along with four newly-hatched turtles that were left in the sewers instead of in a pet store. With the five animals mutating, Splinter took it upon himself to raise the young turtles, naming them after artists from a discarded book on The Renaissance. After eating, the Ninja Turtles, April, and Splinter followed Robin, Steel, and Wonder Girl to the source of the ooze. When they reached it, Donnie, the most intelligent and science-savvy of the four turtle brothers, safely took a sample of the ooze to research it and try to find a way to dissipate it. But then, several shuriken was flung at the heroes and Leo and Wonder Girl blocked them with their skills. A small army of black-clad human ninjas threatened our protagonists to step away from the ooze. They refused, and the ninjas attacked. The turtles tried to protect April and the ooze the best they could, but for naught. A large sample of the ooze was captured and April was kidnapped in the chaos of the fight. When the enemies disappeared, the Turtles and Splinter confirmed that the ninjas belonged to the Kazoku-Ashi, a deadly cartel of criminals from Japan they know as The Foot Clan. Steel’s magnetism powers didn’t work on the Foot Soldiers’ weapons either, but he can sense them as having the same altered ferro-magnetic signature as the Turtles’, so they can track them. In the night of New York City, the heroes, the Turtles, and Splinter tracked the signature to the former site of Prometheus Corp., now, most assuredly the headquarters of the Foot Clan. The team entered the building through the back entrance but were soon detected, forcing all eight of them to have to fight their way to the top, where they think that April might be held along with the nameless leader of the Foot. When they finally reached the top, they found an ornate throne room with April tied up at the side of the the throne itself. Seated upon it is an armor-clad man with dual blades extending from the knuckles of his gauntlets. The armored man, clearly the leader of the Foot, sent more of his ninjas to fight and kill our heroes, but they were bested. The armored man himself, the metal of his armor and weapons also being anti-magnetic, fought our heroes and easily defeated them; he ripped one of Wonder Girl’s bracelets off and tossed away, towards April. He stated, as he was about to kill Wonder Girl, that he’s going to learn the secret of the ooze’s mutagentic properties and form an army of mutants with it. But April freed her hands long enough to fire a non-lethal round from WG’s gauntlet at the back of the leader’s head, distracting him long enough for WG to kick him away. The heroes regrouped as the leader summoned more of his ninjas to defend him. His helm was kicked off by WG, revealing himself to Splinter as Oroko Saki, the Foot assassin who murdered Splinter’s owner. Oroko Saki, now calling himself The Shredder, led the charge against the Ninja Turtles and Splinter as Robin, Steel, and Wonder Girl fought through the other Foot Soldiers to rescue April. The Shredder was bested in battle by the Turtles and then he activated a self-destruct that went off in 12 seconds. Our protagonists quickly leaped out a window, using their grappling ropes/Steel’s flight capabilities in his armor to make a safe landing with April and Splinter in their grasps. The police arrived after the Turtles and their allies vanished. In the end, the ooze was successfully researched and a cure to the poisonings was created as they destroyed the ooze safely. The Turtles, Splinter, and April thanked Robin, Steel, and Wonder Girl for their help and agreed to keep an eye out for any possibility of Shredder’s return. And they’ll be ready if he does…

Notes:

* Deviantart member dudebrah created these microheroes for the Turtles and Splinter and another member named lurch-jr created the Foot Soldiers’.

* April O’Neil was African-American in the original comics, so that’s what I went with.

* The underground complex that the Turtles make their home in seems to be built with Atlantean architecture in mind…
