I support the free Kurdish forces and I believe they should have a land of their own.  However, the YPG frightens me because it is very possible they could be the catalyst to the implementation of a totalitarian Kurdish state, which would be no better than what the Kurds have now.

It is awesome! I love the ypg and I am a Libertarian socialist/anarcho-communist. I also support Catalan Independence.

My only hope is that the YPG allows for an open and democratic Kurdish state and does not attempt to force its own policies upon a future Kurdish state.  Any state given to the Kurds must and should be democratic.

So a rebel group guided by the ideas of a libertarian socialist calling for a decentralized communal state is somehow going to make USSR 2.0 mid-east version?

I never said USSR 2.0, but the YPG has some alarming characteristics that make me believe that they will not allow a democratic and open Kurdish state without a fight.  Armies with radical political ideas rarely lay down their arms and let democracy take over - We Greeks learned that the hard way after WWII.

That was mostly a joke, yet thats the vib I get off of your assessment.

And the YPG is simply an armed force, in the Kurdish territory there are many political parties. And the Greeks were fighting umongst themselves idologically through out the entire war.  www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcndZ0… it's simply direct democracy. Thats what they want.

Well I didn't mean to necessarily suggest that the YPG wants a USSR-style state, although some of their political roots can be traced back to Soviet influence in the Middle East.  I was merely stating that they are adherents of hard-line fringe ideologies which I fear they may attempt to implement by force.

Indeed they are, but as I previously stated they are an armed force built around radical political ideals.  This is not to say I do not support them - I think that the YPG and the other Kurdish groups fighting in Syria are among the best hopes against religious extremist groups like ISIS.  Also, this not entirely true - The actual fighting between ideological groups that lead up to the Civil War didn't start until around 1943 when groups like ELAS began attacking the Republican center and Monarchist center/right movements as well as other left-wing opponents in Greece.  That said, it doesn't really matter the timetable - The point I am attempting to make is that a force like the YPG, whatever they might claim, is a group built around radical ideologies.  And I fear that they may attempt to implement these ideologies by force rather than letting the people themselves decide what they want as many armed groups like them have done in the past.

Why should I support a group whose imagery is similar to ANFTIFA?

Because they kill ISIS?

Jesus H Christ that's probably the most reductive thing i've heard in a while.  pbs.twimg.com/media/CbWyFuCW8A… thousands of Antifas have gone to Syria and fought ISIS.

I discredit a bunch of rats scampering around taking stuff from a defeated enemy, Just like their supplier (USA) did with Nazi Germany in WW3 (wait for everyone else to mortally wound the enemy and than take all the land and glory)

Yet at the time then began fighting ISIS was their most powerful. And they stood up and pushed them out of the north.

Also, yes the US gave them support, but so did Russia. And The US and other western allies played a key role in the destruction of the nazis in N Africa and the invasion of Normandy, lets not forget the pactici wither. While i do give quite a bit of the credit ot the Soviets the US and other Allies were needed.

So good job discrediting millions of others who fought and died to defeat fascism.

Scumbag.
