First of a dozen or more of these which I'll be uploading.The lineart on the first few (including esp. this one) might be a bit faint . . . if it's too big of a problem I can re-upload later with darker lines.

I must say, the three words that describe his personality interest me a lot since he looks so grumpy in his image... "Sensitive, accepting, compassionate" ...but then he looks like he's going to roundhouse kick someone! I TOTALLY dig that!!!!!!!!
Here you are again with your crazy awesome details... I LOVE the art here... The wrinkles, the lines on his pants, the laces on his shoes, the lines on his hoodie... I know that stuff actually HAS these lines, but so many people (myself included) tend to find ways to omit them... The fact that you show all these details and show them SO WELL is just awesome! What a pleasure to look at!!!!!!!
Anyhow, from what I've seen of him in the manga, he seems like a really cool character!!! And I frickin' LOVE his nickname!!! It's... CUTE. He does martial arts, looks like he's going to fight someone... yet he has a cute nickname... This guy is stellar!!!!!

Well... When I say "sensitive," I also mean it in a bad way, in that he's rather thin-skinned and easily hurt.
Akira is someone who cares deeply about other people, and longs to be understood and accepted by them. But he has trouble fitting in, and instead of being accepted, he feels like he's an outcast. It makes him grumpy at times. Even so, he's still compassionate and caring toward people, and so desperate to be liked that he's willing to forgive just about anything.
That's what I was trying to convey, but "three words or less" doesn't allow for much depth or complexity in a character description.
Regarding the clothes, I think the only reason they look so good is because I have had lots of reference and practice. I wear (and have worn) a similar wardrobe to Akira's, so I have a decent idea of how the clothes should hang on a guy's body, and all the little details are things I'm intimately familiar with. So drawing Akira's outfits is pretty easy for me. Also, he's the main character, so I have more practice drawing him than anybody else.
Oh, and Akira didn't have any say in the nickname. lol It sometimes kind of embarrasses him...
