I won't deny that I have something of an obsession with guns and other dangerous implements. Hell I sometimes revel in that fact.I don't possess a specific hate for any category of guns in general, but the recent explosion in the "tactical" category is making me sick. The word is being dispensed and slapped onto any firearm that's flat matte black and decked out with polymers, accessory rails and more gadgets than a swiss army knife and I'm getting sick and tired of it. A lever action rifle wit a forward vertical grip, an adjustable length buttstock and a flash suppressor is not a tactical gun. It's a very damn interesting gun and sure to upset some pussy liberals to no end, but it's not a tactical gun.
The definition of tactical is the use of tactics, ingenuity and skill for successfully achieving a goal. Picatinny rails and black powder coatings don't equal up to any of that. Yes they're useful but that's hardly the matter.
I personally subscribe to the KISS mentality with regard to my stuff, otherwise known as Keep It Simple Stupid. The fewer add ons you've got on your gun the fewer things can go wrong and get you killed.
Case in point is my carbine that I've so proudly shown off here. I don't have an EOTech scope or a forward vertical grip or anything like that attached because I don't need them because it's enough to be tactically successful. My Remington shotgun has two shell carriers on it and I consider that good enough. There are no picatinny rails on any of my auto-loader pistols and I wouldn't own one otherwise.
I might not get oohs and aahs when I display them, but then again I don't have anything sticking out that'll get caught an hung up on my belt when I need to draw it into the ready position.

I love guns of ALL kinds. Though I love machine guns WAY more than semi-autos due to their ability to be a REALLY good squad support, cover fire support and even other kinds of fire support for a squad. They even look SO badass

But the guns during the Revolution was single shot muzzle loaders. Rifles were the high end back then.
The real question is does musket (single shot, takes a few minutes to load, fires a lead ball and Iron sights) equals Assault Rifle
(semiautomatic, 700–950 round/min, 5.56x45 mm Nato and sometimes scoped).
Im more a shotgun guy myself, don't own anymore due too financial reasons.
We don't count slaves as 1/4 a person for census procedures, we have a Navy, Airforce and environmental regulations (fun fact= the founders didn't say anything about them) and all men(for most cases women count as men now in the eyes of the law) are created equal is operating procedure rather than propaganda.
Times change and we have to get used to that fact the Constitution is a guide rather than what we do day to day wise.
To be honest I wonder what would Washington say about people owning body armor and seeing drones kill people from continents away. Who knows he may have believed that arms constituted ballistic missile and vulcan miniguns.

How do you think Washington would feel about the way government is now where its agents openly state that the constitution doesn't amount to shit? Where the police routinely kill your dog because it's part of the training they get even when it's a little chihuahua? Or about the TSA in general? You think Washington would've supported any of that?

The TSA he might be lukewarm about some changes, but then again he didn't believe in a standing army until the Whiskey Rebellion. He also would like the idea that he could travel around in the Sabbath (he was penalized for it during his Administration), so there were already travel restrictions back then.
He understood that there needs to be changes, thats why the constitution can be amended.
To be honest I don't know if he was a dog person or cat person, I think he liked horses though. And like the Whiskey Rebellion, he didn't like the tax but followed the Congress orders to put down the rebellion. So even if he didn't like it he might just support it as the will of the people.

I'm glad I'm not the only one on the web that understands this concept of skill rather than equipment. I can't help but get amused when people slap the term "Tactical" onto anything and everything. Although I admit, it'd be fun to submit patents for things like the "Tactical Pen" or "Tactical Ice Cream Cone". XD
Another thing no one ever mentions as a big plus for these pieces is that you never wonder where you placed your spare magazines.

Amen to that. I just put a red dot on my Rossi Model 92 .44 mag. It looks goofy as shit, but it's my design for a "redneck assault rifle."

Quite right. Tactical is a mindset.
For example I own a break action single shot .22 and within minutes of figuring I can put 45 well aimed shots a minute into a head silhouette at 50 meters.
With each and every weapon I pick up I start evaluating how to use it best. An AK is in fact best used as a left handers weapon as a stock weapon.
Tactical is what you do with your weapon, not how it looks.
Spraypaint and some simple tools and I'll have that .22 more than tacticool enough for people who are frightened of black.
