Description Im reworking my Edge.. again.. as well as working on my Hydra. I've never been happy with the rail as it doesnt look like his. His sits practically free standing (unlike underrails which have to attach to the trigger guard or in place of the slide release) So what im doing to hopefully make it accurate to the point that im happy with it is saw up a rail to remove all the parts that arent needed and fill in the gaps between the rails with modelling clay to make them wider as on his gun. For now its not finished, im going to make the rail go right to the end of the slide like its ment to which requires me buying another rail and sawing it up again to get the extra bit and sticking it onto the end of this bit. Once all thats done all i need to do is spray it all black then spray it chrome and it will hopefully look right

Im also doing the extra bits on Wesker's model like the beavertail which i have remade again, this time using Crayola Model Magic instead of modelling clay as that falls apart as you're working with it, this doesnt. I need to sand that down before i can spray it. I've also added the bit on the front of the trigger guard to make it wider again as on his gun. Im not happy with it though it doesnt look right. I've given it like 3 coats of chrome paint and it just never looks right, the colour/finish doesnt match the frame and it just looks obvious its been stuck on there instead of blending in. I dont know what else i can do with this for now to improve that. Will probably have the same problem when i spray the beavertail too

From my last uploads of this gun i tried to have the skeleton hammer fixed so i can actually fire the gun but they couldnt fix it so its still not working. I told them to keep it on for display purposes instead of refitting the original hammer. The outer barrel i have also upgraded to metal and the lanyard loop has been removed so my grips actually fit together properly

I am also considering attempting to make his laser LAM unit from his RE5 model gun out of putty. I have doubts to the success of that but i want to try. I've found a pic online of someones gun and it looks exactly like his, even the laser unit. I have no idea how they did that but its made me want to try and make it. I have some black putty so i'll try it sometime though it probably wont work

I will upload more progress pics as i get more work done on this. For now i dont think theres much else i can do until i get another rail which will probably take like 2 weeks to come. Hoping once its finished and sprayed it will look right and i might finally be happy with it lol

I know from seeing many versions of this on airsoft sites that the slide is ABS plastic and yet you make it look like metal, it that an effect of the lighting you use or have you done something to it? It's the same with the grips on it, they look darker than the regular samurai edge too... All in all making a very sexy gun!

It must just be the lighting, i took this pic with the flash off as with it on i didnt like how it looked. My slide is plastic as the regular ones are. It might be possible to have the custom parts in metal though, there are places that will engrave slides and stuff, how much though i dont know. My grips are darker than the standard model Edge's, i dont know why. I bought the slide and grips separately off ebay over a year ago and this is just what i got them like

I've got my new rail which i have sawn up today to get the extra piece i need to stick on the end of this bit to get the 4 square sections. Waiting on the glue drying then need to stick it onto this part of the rail then i can get it sprayed and hopefully finished. Just filled in the gaps on my beavertail too so will get that sprayed later. Probably wont look right still but about the best i can do

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know, I'll definatley be making myself one of those in the near future minus the rail.

I look forward to seeing this wok of art completed!

For an airsoft gun, that is insanely good-looking. Most real Berettas don't look half as spiffy (even the custom ones). I especially dig the front serrations, I wish the M92-series had them as standard. Good luck with the project, dude!

Most people cant tell the difference between airsoft guns and real guns so personally having a real one would be pointless to me. Yeah i wish these were standard too, would save me having to do all this. Hoping the end result will be worth it

it looks like my Beretta M9 airsoft gun, but mine seriously lacks the awesome you gave to your gun. Now that's awesome looking prop work

Hehe a perfectionist eh? Try googling Vertec Rail. After looking extensively I think thats the closest you can get to the rail on Wesker's Edge.

Yes Yeah i heard about that before. Nothing i can do about it though those are the built in rails that just come on the guns so i'd have to buy another gun and even then finding one to buy isnt easy. Those arent perfect enough either, most have only one gap on the rail, Wesker's has 4. With another rail part added to the end of what i already have i should end up with the 4. It wont be totally perfect but its really the best i can do without having to buy a new gun or have a frame custom made (which i tried to do but the guy is apparently so busy to even give me a cost estimate )

Hmmm yeh thats true. I don't know if you know him but you could ask one of my mates 'lycaneyes' here on dD how he went about it. He's done some pretty good work on his Wesker Edge [link]
When I get an Edge he'll be doing one for me. Though I may attempt it myself first. [link] gotta love this one.

Yeah i know, i want to do it myself.. That last pic is the one i was talking about in the description about the laser. I want to know how the hell they did that its perfect.. The whole gun would be perfect if they had filled the gaps in on the rail. All i can think of is making the laser out of putty but i dont think i'll get it to work..

It looks pretty beautiful to me.
Why don't you try working with metal instead of putty?

RedDevil00 In reply to BlackShinobi [2011-01-16 17:49:36 +0000 UTC]

Metal is hard to work with (i find anyway) Putty is easy to sculpt and remake if any mistakes are made. I'd love to make a beavertail out of metal but i know i wouldnt be able to do it, unless i could get someone else to make it for me so it was like a slip on one or something. I know one way i could have the gun completely accurate is to get the Zeke aluminium frame then can work a beavertail and thicker trigger guard into that. Seen it done on an airsoft forum someone PM'd me about it, his friend was making them for people on commission. I asked him how much it would cost to have done and he still hasnt replied, was like 6 months or more ago now. I cant even find the frame in stock anywhere now and its expensive anyway. If i'd heard back from that guy i was going to get him to make me one as long as it wasnt too expensive but as i still havent heard back im just working with this for now. Might try contacting him again about it

Oh, when I worked with metal (briefly) it wasn't so bad.
Someone told me it was a lot like working with wood.

RedDevil00 In reply to BlackShinobi [2011-01-16 18:19:35 +0000 UTC]

From my experience i dont like it. Wood is easy to work with, i did Tech at school for 4 years and when we used metal i hated it lol. I dont think theres a point in me even attempting it but it would be cool to yeah

It's a direction worth looking into, you don't have to do it.
Nobody is forcing you, right?
