Description
Tasa ("love" or "liver" in Berber) is the daughter of Tsemru and Bakhta.

Tasa is born into the Barbary Empire as a lowly servant to the cruel Emporer Munatas and his family. Her family are rather poor due to their low rank, and often go hungry more days than not, but they are happy and Tasa is well loved by both her parents. Tasa is especially close to her father, Tsemru, and often follows him around like a shadow while he attends to his duties.

Her happy family life is cut short one day when both she and her mother fall ill. Fearful that his family won't have the strength to fight off whatever is ailing them without consistant meals, Tsemru begins to steal food from the storage to feed his family. He's always careful to steal just as much as he needs and not a piece more, but eventually he is caught in the act by the royal guards and is hauled away to the Emporer to be punished. As punishment for his theft, he is executed and force fed to his mate and daughter. After all, if he's so desperate to feed them, then he should sacrifice his own body to give them nurishment instead of stealing food from his Emporer.

Losing her father and then being force fed his flesh breaks something inside little Tasa. She becomes more than a bit unhinged, and swears vengeance on the Emporer and anyone associated with him. As the years go by, Tasa ends up going on a killing spree, taking out various other servants and high officials and eating the remains herself, having developed a taste for lion flesh, with her first victim being the Emporer's young nephew. She keeps her head down and plays the part of the meek, loyal servant perfectly, thus no one ever suspects that the one murdering and devouring members of the royal court is her.

Ultimately it comes to a head years later when she poisons the Emporer himself and frames his heir, Nayram, as the culprit of both his father's murder and the murder and cannibalization of various court members and servants. Nayram is then forced to flee the Empire along with his mate and his mother, leaving his half-brother, Tsige, as the new Emporer.

Still not satisfied, Tasa makes sure none of Tsige's cubs live to adulthood, leaving the heir uncertain and the throne empty when he finally passes. This causes the Empire to fracture and collapse into various factions as relatives of the Emporer and other high officals fight for the throne.

And Tasa? She slips away one day amongst all the chaos, finally satisfied with her revenge and laughing all the while.

EDIT: Added her backstory. I've wanted to use Barbary lions in my TLK-verse for awhile now, and I finally figured out where to place them. There was once an entire empire of Barbary lions that existed up in the north-eastern part of Africa that came to be around the same time that the Old Ways were giving way to the New Ways. The Barbary Empire is sort of a mixture of the Old Ways and New Ways, where many lions both male and female live together in one big pride and are ruled by one male and one female, but they are also still allowed to take multiple mates and such. The Emporer rules over the main pride, plus multiple smaller prides that live throughout their vast territory, hence why they are an empire and not just a kingdom like the Pride Lands. Tasa is born during the second-to-last Barbary Emporer's rule, being one of the main causes of the Empire's eventual collapse. She may or may not be distantly related to some of the Outlanders, as I imagine most of them have Barbary blood in them.
