Has it really been 50 years?! Yes, on September 8, 1973, the NBC network premiered an animated adaptation of the 1960s sci-fi series, "Star Trek". Dang, that makes me feel old!

The image on the screen? That's a screen capture from a YouTube video, a promotion for a series of 5 shorts sanctioned by CBS/Paramount that celebrates the Filmation series. Collectively titled "Very Short Treks", these shorts will depict absurd situations and a bit of crossover like depicting Riker and Neelix in Filmation style, Tendi and Boimler of "Lower Decks" in their style appearing on the Filmation bridge and other antics not yet revealed. So, yes, this sequence will supposedly be in one of the mini-sodes that was given the approval of the IP owners. The first one aired today and is called "Skin a Cat". Yes, M'Ress appears and takes offense to Kirk's use of the expression.
