Krystal can't seem to enjoy her sandwich, but Mzzkiti seems quite thrilled with her burger! Not that anybody has complained, but I will admit several of my Mzzkiti renders tend to depict Nostromo type dim lighting with deep shadows, optimal for a xenomorph trying to hide. So, here we are in the ship's mess hall that FLO (the Food Logistics Operations robot) has decorated with a 1950s malt shop diner's theme with chrome, brushed aluminum, speckled Formica tables and counters and red vinyl upholstery all brightly lit with ceiling mounted florescent bulbs.

But I made the environment in those original web comic strips with TrueSpace texturing some fairly basic shapes. For this blissful scene, I made use of detailed assets I downloaded, both for free and purchased. Amazingly, FLO is still pretty much The TrueSpace model I built 24 years ago, I did swap out her original rather stiff arms (merely rotating at the "ball in socket" shoulders) for arms from a free Poser based Robby figure with flexing pleats. Of his own accord Mapper whipped up a truly "greazy spoon" texture set that so impressed me, I've used it ever since. (I love the dripping splatter upon her dome!) Not terribly long ago I modded her dome/head, removing the original neon tube "mouth" for a large lens array inspired by an alternative dome the Robby costume featured in an episode of "Space Academy" (a Filmation live action sci-fi series) and "Project UFO" (a prime-time drama about Air Force officers investigating "sightings"). It had more interesting detail than my original part that was just a quarter wedge of a sphere with a bit of bump mapping applied.

I thought it would be cute to see Mzzkiti really getting into the spirit of the place by eating food appropriate for the decor, a cheeseburger with "chonky" fries, a bottled soda and an ice cream sundae served in a frosted glass. (Yes, she can metabolize lactic acid. The log entry for vintage strip no. 17 noted this.) Her burger seems to be experiencing some major "sloopage" (the oozing of condiments), and if she isn't careful all the solid contents might slip free of the buns! But that's just part of the fun...provided the patty and "fixins'" hit the plate and not the deck! Feast well, Skiti, feast well!
