Just looking at a racing game with similar mechanics like items, gameplay, etc doesn't mean it's a rip off to Mario Kart. I mean yeah, they all look the same, but they don't play the same and that's what matters. I played Cars 2 the Video Game which had similar mechanics to Mario Kart, but it doesn't feel like Mario Kart to me.

(The sad fact is that Open-World Games suffered from the whole GTA Rip-off excuse)
