This one is called the "wrecked wrecker" and it's pretty famous.

Ha, yeah I know.Β  I've taken many pictures and videos of it throughout the years. One video I recorded has close to 700K views on youtube.
I also build a model of it redlinegearhead.deviantart.com…

Looks like a Mad Max car. Maybe for the 4ΒΊ film?

Nah, it's not for the 4th movie. The 4th movie was/is being filmed in Australia. They started filming in 2012 I believe.
This truck was built between 2008 and 2009 in some guys garage in Pennsylvania USA. Built just for fun after the truck went nose first into a telephone pole.

The vehicles in the new mad max movie are going to be a lot more insane looking than this. For instance-->www.gamekyo.com/images_1/9795b…

I've seen pictures of this truck before, do you know what engine is in it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RedlineGearhead In reply to USCGCitasca [2014-01-10 21:07:36 +0000 UTC]

Not sure. It's most likely the stock engine that came in those tow trucks.

i'm on a mission to find out now... I know a decent amount about the 1967-72 trucks as I am restoring a 71, but not sure about the older ones.

VinnyMartello In reply to USCGCitasca [2014-02-20 19:07:56 +0000 UTC]

They have a lot of similarities. A lot of them came standard with straight sixers and the occasional 305 V6. There were some V8 trucks factory but not a whole lot. Probably a 283 or 327 depending upon what was available at the dealership.

Thank you for the info; if I were to build something like this, I would swap in a 6.2 Detroit out of one ofΒ the laterΒ square body trucks, but that's just me.

My '66 Chevy rat rod is equipped with a 350 Buick that is currently under construction.Β

Sounds awesome; my 71 has a cammed 283 power pack, also under construction. Mine is more muscle car(truck) than rat rod though.

My 350 Buick has some goodies. I'm finally done with the build and now I need to do a break in.

Home-made 5qt oil pan. Balanced crank. Weight matched rods. Weight matched 10.0 comp hyperuetectic pistons. Predator Cam. Ported intake. Aluminum intake manifold. Edelbrock 750 carb. 42,00 volt HEI distributor. All painted up real nice too!

Okay... that is INSANE! Me want... with more head room though, but still want!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RedlineGearhead In reply to Hamokk [2012-02-26 02:11:24 +0000 UTC]

There's actually plenty of head room. Though, that's because it has tractor seats that are bolted straight to the floor.

They destroyed a perfectly good truck.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RedlineGearhead In reply to Deorse [2010-05-16 03:58:47 +0000 UTC]

It works and it is in one piece. It is not destroyed.

Now if that is your way of saying you don't like what he did to it, then that is your own opinion.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Deorse In reply to RedlineGearhead [2010-05-16 04:08:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah he'd altered it to the point it isn't worth anything now.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

RedlineGearhead In reply to Deorse [2010-05-16 07:03:19 +0000 UTC]

Worth anything? It's his truck and he did what he wanted to with it. What does worth have anything to do with it? He didn't build it to resell it. Plus, somethings value is based on personal opinion.

Deorse In reply to RedlineGearhead [2010-05-16 18:43:37 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, not dissing your photo but in my opinion the desecration of classic cars and trucks have very little worth to me. But if he enjoys doing what he is doing, there is little to what I can to stop him.
