silly theres a reason that depleted uranium is called "depleted" uranium.
depleted uranium only becomes "depleted" when all the radioactivity is sucked out of it leaving it well... depleted.
the uranium is used becasue it is one of the densist metals in the world and thus, really good at blowing the hell out of tanks.

Yeah you sure got that right. DU munitions are certainly doing sever and permanent damage to civilians and non civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan and Yugoslavia. It's a shame so few people around know or care about it. I thought agent orange was bad, then I found out about DU. I wonder what the US military is going to suprise us all with next.

this is really cool. I like that you put some historical context to it. spreads the knowledge.

Look... I generally refrain from commenting upon an artist's choices but I really have to ask you this: Why -of all the hundreds of fonts out there- did you choose "monotype corsiva"?... Your artwork is really great and I just thing that it needed a "rougher" font, perhaps one with less curvature...
It's just my opinion (and I know there are people who actually agree with your choice), so don't really mind me...
Cheers!

I probably should have, I was screwing around with the words, I wanted to make it looks different so I put different black and white layers, I screwed up and it looked like that and it looked good so I kept it and didnt think about using a better font. Alot of this stuff happens by accident, like the burned edges.

Cool idea, love the font at the top...just one thing though (having myself read all the millitary books esp. about tanks) depleted Uranium by definition is not supposed to be radioactive (it's used in the armour of some M1-A1 battle tanks), it is depleted. Thats why it is supposed to be "safe" to use. However (with a limited knowledge of nuclear physics) my guess it that when the round passes through a tanks armour it could expose or reactivate radioactivity in the uranium, not to mention the fact that my war monger government doesn't care if its still active or not. They use uranium 'cause its more dense and stronger than steel, making it better at blasting through armour at high velocities. Most countries use Tungsten anti-tank rounds, which a quick look @ the periodic table will show you it is not as dense as uranium but more dense than the elemental components of steel (iron, nickle, etc.). I guess our government finds a little extra velocity more important than the lives of it's own soldiers and the country we are supposed to be saving. Sorry for the rambling military tech lecture, but now you know...yea...

Well "depleted uranium" isnt really depleted, its just a by-product for enriching uranium for power plants, nuclear waste. When you pull the stuff out of the mine, uraniun has U235 and U238, but they only need the 235 so they take away the 238 and thats depleted uranium. By definition or theoretically uranium can be really depleted and safe, but that takes billions of years, deplteded uranium in bullets is more like a nickname. I just took chemestry last semester so this all makes sence to me.

I see...that sucks...I'd hate to be in a tank with radioactive ammo, or on the loading crew or whatever...I'd be pissed...If they ever start drafting again remind me to run to Canada...facist bastards...

They were probably lied to about it, just to get them into the tanks.
Running to canada's not all that bad, it worked for americans when that thing in vietnam happened

awesome work, gotta love the Depleted Uranium, its still being used illegally, it goes against the Geneva Conventions of war due to the fact that its radioactive. I love the background of the picture

Thanks, when I make backgrounds like these everything has its own layer, and theres eventually soo many it starts killing my computer, I probably couldent add anything else to this if I wanted to, paint shop pro froze like 5 times when I tried to finish it off by adding the black border.
