Do you find it takes up more time to do BW first and then colour as compared to people who go straight to colour? Still trying to find myself in the sigital art world :S
Lovely piece!

Hello!
Very interesting to me. I am always curious about the different processes and techniques in digital painting, as people seem to work very variously with the same medium! I've watched the vid. I have absolutely not the same technique as yours when I paint something. How do you color the face (for instance) and then add the colors from grey? I know it's often done in digital painting - people start from a desaturated ground but personally it's mysterious to me. How do you color from the lineart and then from grey ? Do you have a vid (maybe in the future?) with just the coloring of a particular zone? I'd be very grateful. I don't understand why the artists start from grey, what does it add in the process? For my part I don't have such a step and just play with colors directly.
I think the result is very photo-realistic.

Hello
I do know that I used a different technique in the opposite to other artist, bit I must admit that is the only way I can work with.^^" I started as a classic portrait artist with pen&paper and in B&W, so I used to do the same with the computer later. It was just a try when I wanted to make it in color for the first time... But I knew that you can ink things easily in PS. So I just tried as said and voilΓ‘ it works great. I inked it with the function Image-Adjustments-Hue/Saturation I duplicated the finish grey layer a few times, ink them as well in different color shades for the skin, fixed them for to ink just single parts and paint also over it with new layers for brighter effects and for the skin pattern. I also put some layers under the "grey/inked"-one for to get a kind of base color.
I hope that is a bit understandable
The way from the lineart is the same I used to draw it on paper... Just black in different "thicknesses" with different sizes of the base brushes of PS and the rubber of course XD
I would love to make a vid, but my PS can't handle it and dies when it comes to such things. Most of all when PS CS3 is open, a browser AND such a livestream prog ;_; My computer is over 7 years old and with WindowsXP... and I'm already glad that I can work in PS, you see^^"""
But I thought about a tutorial maybe Or I can reach it an a friends PC and make this vid, we'll see.
I would also love if I would play with the colors directly, but I need to be always sure and yeah, I'm to stupid to draw it the normal way XD So thats the best way for me
Thank you for your interest and the compliment
