Description In all honesty, I forgot I had done this pic. lol, this was a practice run of blending the shadows and highlights to give more dimension to my work.

I really love how this came out, and I can't believe I lost it on my computer. XD

Overall, this piece has great originality. However, there are a few problems I see that I would like to help you with.
Firstly, your perspective on the arms is off. You need to show the right shoulder and first segment of that arm a bit more, rather than completely hiding it behind the arm, as the lower segment of the arm is thinner.
The left art needs to be a tad longer as well, and for the angle, you needed to make the shoulder and upper segment a bit bigger.
Next, the fingers need more detail to them. Perhaps you should add visible knuckles to show that they are digits. Also, the fingers are not completely even in size as shown in the piece. Your middle finger is the largest, followed by your ring finger, then index finger, then pinkie. Also, try to make a woman's fingers more shapely and slender; it would make it more visually appealing, and sexy e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

Other than those things, this is still rather nice. The legs are absolutely lovely and the pose is very nice. Th color's and shading is also nice as well, and you did great with the detail on the shirt.

Hope I could help you! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Big Grin)"/>

What I was trying to do with the right arm was show that it was concealed by a baggy shirt. I've just got to figure out how to make the shirt look like it has baggy sleeves.

As for the hand, I didn't even realize how the fingers looked until you pointed it out. XD

Arms and hands have always killed me of you've looked at my other works. lol so this is still a huge improvement compared to most .

Thanks for the help, I appriciate it!

No problem, I'm glad I could help, and I'm glad you accepted my critique as well

For the baggy shirt, I would suggest to give it a droop with flow to it, and a few wrinkles around were the shirt isn't leaning on the arm.

Concerning pose and body there is nothing left to say. I like her posture.
But you write you wanted to practice shading, so maybe I say something here. I like the way you placed the shades. Often people are not courageous enough and place small shadows just on the edges, which is too little to give a dimensional effect, but this looks really good.
On the other hand I cannot figure out... Did you use a tool (like e. g. dodge and burn in Photoshop) for generating the colours of the shadows and highlights? I used to do it this way, but the result always looks a little bit, ehm, I do not know... maybe too clean. Also, the colours get very fast too bright or too dark. When I start shading, I choose some colours and play with the opacity and sharpness of the brush. So I get different transitions: smooth and hard ones. There are plenty of good tutorials, I can suggest this one [link] by ~joulee and this one [link] (not here on dA).

I hope I wrote something helpful.

Thank you so much for the tips about shading. I actually didn't do burn, I actually used a colo pallet and layered different colors on and then used smudge to blend them together. This was my first attempt at using a tool to do shading, so I appriciate the suggestions. I'll check out the tutorials you mentioned.

I am glad, I found something useful. Once I had a long list of awesome tutorials, but my homepage broke down due to a bug of the hosting service. And aaaall content is gone. >___<

Awesome pose! :0 I really like how you did the designs on her shirt and the shading. The only thing I can see that needs a bit of work is the foreshortening of her arms but I think you did a fantastic job none-the-less! That looks like a really hard pose to pull off.

Yeah this was a really hard pose to do. Plus this was an attempt to do new shading. I'm really happy with how the shading, it looks better then I thought it would. I've never done any pics that had any real forshortening needed, so I didn't know what I was doing, but now I have an idea of what I need to work on.

This looks gorgeous! She's got a weird ear, and I can't quite see if she's sitting down or not. Besides that, though, it's way cool! (Sorry, I can't write a critique, it won't let me. XD )

She's in a crouching position. so she's sort of sitting ^^
