I kinda think 'MARXISM' should be the heading here rather than socialism

Socialism:
1: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods
2a : a system of society or group living in which there is no private property b : a system or condition of society in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state
3: a stage of society in Marxist theory transitional between capitalism and communism and distinguished by unequal distribution of goods and pay according to work done

Yet another example of how americans do not even know what socialism fucking is.
Go look up Norway, Sweden, Iceland, France, basically almost any well-known European country.
They are ALL socialist.
They also have some of the best economies worldwide, the most civil rights, they are ranked highest on the Global Peace Index, etc.
The only drawback: Climate and high taxes.
I have yet to see a successful conservative country. Whenever I ask a conservative to name one, THEY CAN'T.
There are countries where you do not have to pay taxes, or you have to pay very low taxes.
They are usually horrible places to live.
Now COMMUNISTIC countries....those are different.
Communistic countries are what many stupid american conservatives think socialistic countries are like.
GAH. What happened to intelligent conservatives? Sick of this tea party hogwash that can't comprehend basic math.

We well know. We look at those countries as negative examples. We are not content with mediocrity.
no hippies please.

Mediocrity? On a case-by-case basis, they trump us when it comes to civil rights, environmental health, lack of pollution, health care, life expectancy, efficiency of quality of social programs, quality of life, and their economies are superior as well!
and, mind you, this is a CASE BY CASE basis for most of the countries listed. Primarily the Scandinavian countries.
Those are the GOALS, not the pitfalls.
Holy moly.
Please think before you type.

Where is Scandinavia? I thought that was suburb of London. Those sad localities wallow so deeply in their own mediocrity they have no influence or affect on the world. They are child countries w/ no responsibility. They are the "Mom, look at me" countries. Great, junior. Now leave the adults alone.
Excellence and prosperity are goals. Innovation, advancement and Liberty are goals. Living a long, sad life of mediocrity is a consolation prize.
Holy moly, don't type at all.
no hippies please.

Here you go. This took me all of 3 seconds to google. Apparently it was too much work for you to do yourself:
[link]
If you really think a country's worth is measured by worldly influence, then, well....I'm not entirely sure what to say.
This isn't high school this is real life?
I'll bet you love to tout your knowledge of various famous historical figures who knew how to give great speeches....while completely ignoring people like Alexander Fleming and Charles Drew who are rarely known (sans by those who study history) but are responsible for things that saved countless lives and changed history for the better.
Because apparently, all the greatness they have achieved is overshadowed by the fact that they weren't, like, popular enough.
Mediocrity?
Those countries, on a case-by-case basis mind you, beat us out in education.
Their economies...superior.
Health care, safety, average income per person, public transportation, social services, lack of pollution, quality of life, THEY TRUMP US in ALL of these things! and they are just a few of the countries that do!
They have excellence and prosperity covered.
We have a ridiculous rich-poor gap and our import-to-export ratio is PATHETIC. I can't remember the last time I saw something Made in America in a store other than a pack of toothpicks!
Liberty? AGAIN, they beat us in civil rights.
Advancement? Nope. We're beaten out by every Scandinavian country on that one, sans Norway, admittedly. They are slightly behind, but STILL beat us out in education by a mile!
Unless you mean in terms of technology. We lead the market in MP3 players thanks to Apple, and Bill Gates' Operating Systems have been a staple when it comes to computers worldwide for years. Funny, Steve Jobs was a gay-supporting liberal, and Gates is secular liberal atheist. Fiscally successful liberals whodathunkit?
So frankly, I'm not seeing where the U.S. is superior here. We have one of the most powerful militaries on earth, I'll say that. Still outshined by all the things mentioned above though. Y'know, the fact that we're beaten in civil rights ("Liberty" lol), education (there's that innovation thar) our economy sucks compared to all those "lib countrees" we have more pollution our exports suck our QOL sucks etc etc....I don't feel like repeating myself.
We were doing good when liberal Clinton was in office. Had a surplus.
What happened to that? Oh yeah. Conservative fiscal, social, and foreign policy for 8 years. Whoopsy-daisy.
No sheep please.

Scandinavia embodies mediocrity. Be satisfied w/ that if you want. Americans strive. Europeans wallow.
no hippies please.

He's opening his MASTER'S bottle of beer. Beer will be restricted to the ruling class! In the name of equality, of course.
