I love your composition in this, the way you're not afraid to leave much out of the frame.

Film intimidates me.

Bravo.

It intimidates you?

Well, the only solution is to shoot more! Eventually, it will be intimidated by you (or maybe you will become best of friends)

btw, I really liked "Lonely in the Peak District". I didn't know what kind of advanced critique to give it. I simply thought it fantastic, especially the lighting and atmosphere. It is very elegant and interesting.

It also reminded me of a photo called "Winter Oak", done by Paul Kozal, which I spotted in a photo magazine a month ago...the feeling behind it is similar

I only have an almost 30-year old Jenaflex (Prakticar) camera, with one broken lens, and one other not very clear lens. I don't know how to best use them! I shot recently with some expired film and got okay results, but not having (or knowing how to use) a darkroom, I have to send the film off for developing. I purposly took 2 exposures of a few scenes, one to be at least a full stop under exposed, one correctly exposed, but the developers fixed them to look the same! How dare they!

I think I'm used to having control in the (digital) darkroom, and lack the confidence to get it right first time, on film. =\ I do love using the 35mm camera, it's such a joy. Maybe I'll take your advice and shoot more film!

The colours and feeling compliment eachother so well. It's an excellent capture and a good choice of focal point.

I'm really loving this photo... as has been said before, the movement of the swing, creating the angle between the swings, is great, as is the depth of field chosen, the choice of where to focus, and the overall colors of the picture. Some of the stuff you do here are things I would never think to try, and the effect is great. +fav from me...

and btw... I keep forgetting to tell you petey... congratu-fu**ing-lations on getting into Williams! that's some serious college pwnage there!

many thanks

However, I would have probably liked to have gone your way and get in somewhere early....lucky ba--

hehe

Anyway, the comment, coming from you--I sincerely appreciate it because I see it as truthful, and not just commenting "good job" for self-advertisement. Plus, you are one of the best photographers I personally know

i really love this....it's a cloud of nostalgia...
i can feel the rain, the coldness in my nose, smell the freshness...
hear the cars splashing quickly thru the streets and the prayers of every last drop of rain as it hits the swings, the ground, the fence, the poles....everything...
this is the thread of memory.

thanks for allowing me to revisit that place. since here it never seems to rain....

It's kinda blurry, but I like how the swing is in motion. It's like someone's supposed to be there, but they've gone away somewhere. That with the rainy day backround creates such a solemn mood. lovely.
