Finally a dark haired Amaterasu!! I'm kinda sick of just seeing her with white hair, ears, and a tail. Honestly if I saw a lady with a wolf tail and ears w/ white hair I would freak out and run, not revere the hell outta her. Lol, sorry ranting and bitching is my thing. Basically I think this rendition is accurate and very nice!!

This is by far my favorite humanoid Amaterasu yet. I absolutely hate all of the other ones I've seen, but this one actually looks accurate to me. Nice job!

The hair-fur thing sounds right, now that you mention it. So, white hair would make sense then. I stand corrected. Either which way, the cutesy-ness is nonsensical.
Thanks for the fave, by the way. X)

Very monomoke to me...
I like it. She actually looks like she could kill an 8=headed dragon on numerous occasions.

Great work. Makes me wish I knew more about the game, but still, I can appreciate the great artistic quality. Rock on.

WOOT. I like black-haired Ammy. And the mask is perfect. I picture her in a mask too - different sort of mask, but mask nonetheless. So, sweeeeeeeet.
The rosary came out awesome, too. That's the one that smacks people around with lightning, right?
Much luff.

Nice work, and well documented - you make a lot of valid points. I personally haven't played Okami a whole lot, but i think this rendering of Amaterasu seems to be quite close to what i imagine her to look like. As for the hair colour issue, i think it's important to remember that when a lot of people draw fan-art, the bits that they imagine are, a lot of the time, personal preference. For instance, i personally would have Amaterasu with long, flowing hair - the kind that doesn't really have an official 'stopping point', if you get me. But that's what i imagine in my mind, and likewise this rendition is what you imagine her to look like. I think it's a positive thing that all the details aren't solid, to be honest; imagination can be a key part of storytelling and character design. Likewise with all the Kingdom Hearts 2 fanart that's clogging up DA, a lot of people like to imagine relationships between characters. If the storylines for each character were completely mapped out, then it's possible that people wouldn't like the characters as much.
Okay, i'm babbling a bit. Anyway, nice work, and it's cool that you like the game so much.

Thank you.
Yes, I think I maybe I said the bit about the hair a bit more harshly than I meant to. In any case, I do see your point (and I can also see the flowing hair working for a human Amaterasu). But that's an interesting thought about the details; not a perspective I've looked from before. I suppose that having that option to imagine and build upon the character would, aside from bringing the audience into the creative process and involving them in what they love, would also make the character, perhaps, more easily relatable as opposed to a character only able to relate to a specific group or personality type.
Heh, I could argue about the matter of invented relationships between characters, but that's an angry rant for another day. Suffice it to say that it would seem to me that while, yes, certain such relationships are all well and good... but only if they make sense. But I suppose how much sense they make is also a debatable factor.
But I can see where the shippers are coming from, for the most part. There's some pretty incriminating dialogue in that game.
(Heh. Babbling's all to the good, so far as I'm concerned.)
