Kids Next Door Mission:

Operation: C.L.U.E.S.

Cutlery's Location Uncovers Elementary Solution

Show: Codename: Kids Next Door
Episode: S4 E2b
Year: 2004

Writing Operative(s): Mo Willems, Mr. Warburton

Classic Numbuh 2, you gott love these murder mystery-type scenarios. The very idea of someone out to murder a "Posh Party Rainbow Monkey" in and of itself is a goldmine for jokes, but they surpsingly take it very seriously. The whole thing, while it takes half the episode to really get into pulls off such a ridiculous concept really well. It's nowhere near as good as its sister episode of course, but after such an epic rock show you need some lighter fare. And who doesn't love a good mystery anyways? Huh? Turkey anyone? Or should I say RAINBOW MONKEY!?

Honestly this episode makes me wonder: WHY didn't they make real Rainbow Money plushies? Given how popular KND was these things would sell themselves! Back to the episode, I loved that we get to meet Kuki's parents here; it really shows Lauren Tom's range comparing her Numbuh 3 voice to her mother's more calm and composed tone, especially when she briefly slips into Kuki's voice during her rant! Yeah you can predict the culprit easily, but honestly Mushi's descent into villainy is pretty awesome and she's surpsingly almost as scary as her sister at her worst. Btw that live action dramatization was surprisingly freaky... A grown man as Mushi... I dunno who the hell that was, but I imagine he went onto become a serial killer...

The one thing that did make this episode for me is Numbuh 3's dad. Mainly to do with his voice.Β

The look on Kuki's face is telling Hoagie, I will put you into the emergency hospital on life support if you think I would fork my Posh Party Rainbow Monkey in the back.

Ever noticed that Lauren Tom's voiced a mother and daughter in a cartoon three times? In this show, Futurama and King of the Hill.

Numbah 3 is scary when she's angry. I bet she can scare HIM easily with her rage.

Because your comments say the exact same thing as the review you comment on, like the case here.

for some reason, i have a theory that numbah 3 might be possessed or maybe just a girl who you dont want to anger.

Numbah 2 always got some of the more interesting story ideas, especially when it came to detective stories.

Wow, 4 reviews in one day. You're on a roll.

I agree that it was a good episode, but I was always a little bummed they turned Mushi into a villain. After all, we've already got Cree. But I guess it was meant to be one of those "never saw it coming" twists.

Also, yeah, that live-action segment was messed up!
