Would it REALLY be that hard to let Ash win something like this? Oh wait, no it wouldn't. Because it already happened. Orange Islands. Ash won a major region tournament in an entertaining battle that made sense. And he was able to continue his journey even after that.

It don't count. Gary kicked his ASS immediately after! Same for the Battle Frontier.

My point is, the writers were at some point capable of writing the show to have Ash win a major event in a satisfying way and still continue his story. How and why did they forget?

I haven't seen that fight in a while, so I don't remember what about it messed up the story.

Ah. I see. Well, it does line up with the other times the show had an unevolved pokemon win a match. Anything else about that match stick out as a problem?

How about you watch it for yourself so I don't have to describe everything to you. He beat a FUCKING DRAGOINITE AND LOST TO A FUCKING EEVEE.

I see. Well I can see how that would be a problem. But earlier you mentioned having a problem with this and the battle between Ash and Gary that happened right after Ash defeated the Battle Frontier. Do you consider that fight better or worse than the eevee fight?

On the level of the copout at the Johto league. Nobody knew about Electivire or how it could absorb electric attacks. I'm not sure what ri think.

I actually remember this one better than the eevee one. I consider the electivire fight better. Not only does it effectively preview a gen 4 Pokemon who would later be used by a prominent rival, but it also gives a taste of Gary after dialing back his ego.

I never really cared about XYZ. I fell asleep watching it multiple times. On that note, I wasn't really all that surprised that Ash lost. I lost all hope after Sinnoh. What really did surprise me, was the amount of people that actually thought Ash was going to win.

Yeah, like Ash would except a disqualification to win.
He is nothing more but a plot point for Ash to lose. He has no personality, barely any lines, no backstory, nothing.
And in the end, Ash did finally win a league, but his fans are still crying. Guess some people will never be satisfied. XD

The RIGHT league? Give me a break. (-_-)
And I'd chose the series that didn't put me to sleep watching it, and with side characters I actually liked. I like Sun and Moon over XYZ. At least Ash had a more entertaining personality and it made me laugh at times.

I've been with the series from the start as well, but Ash in XYZ wasn't developed, he was boring.
Honestly, Ash needs to retire

This to me is more like the Great Divide of Pokemon episodes. The ending is literally the only bad thing about it, but it's not even bad enough to make the episode as a whole worthy of being called an atrocity because everything else was more than enough to save it.

Reading the plot for this episode makes me glad I stopped watching this anime. When did I stop watching you may ask? The end of Sinnoh League Victors.

the closest thing to be newest Pokemon season that I watch is: The Right Place and Right Mime(one of Advanced Generation episodes with Misty)
and few Advanced Generation stuff without Misty I can remotely watch is: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew(for Ash got Superpowers thing)

I thought this episode was pretty good up until Ash lost. The animation was impressive, the fight was intense, and it was really cool to see Ash finally (no pun intended) make it to the Pokemon League finals. It's a real shame that he ended up losing, or we could have had an Admirable Animation on our hands. I think Ash should have beaten the tournament but then lost to Diantha. It would have made sense for a few reasons: Greninja is basically a glass cannon (Ash-Greninja has a base 71 Special Defense stat; and yes, I know Ash-Greninja didn't exist in-game at the time; shut up), Mega Gardevoir is really strong (it has Pixilate and Hyper Beam on its side as well as a base 165 Special Attack stat), Greninja has a type disadvantage against Gardevoir, and Diantha is the goddamn Champion. Oh well! We can't have everything.

We cant say anything about this, it tragically became clear that Status Quo is God in the Kalos League because the anime would be over already if Ash won

"We didn't just, let the members of Al Qaeda who realized Osama Bin Laden was a madman go did we?" I got angrier than the titular character of Asura's Wrath when everypony let Chrysalis, who captured them and neutralized their magic, go at the end of To Where And Back Again. During the post-Season 6 hiatus, I watched far less MLP and moved on to Paw Patrol.
